Spark plug wires - broken clip

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
While replacing the plugs, I broke the clip that holds the wire to the the coilpack (on one of the packs). I assume that I have to replace the wire(s). Correct. If so, what is the oem spark plug wire and where can I get it. On other cars, I have replaced the wires with non-oem and they have been too long and did not fit well. Prefer a perfect fit. Thanks for your help.

Ive had one broken one for 4 years now depending on how u broke it. I just broke the clipping mechanism being impatient with that simple tech - hahaaaa

It fits on there pretty tight if u use the mounts to tie everything back down with tie wraps (REMINDER: Always use extreme caution cutting the tie wraps off whenever u do ur spark plug chgs).

Ohhhh and ummmm remember to bolt down both of the grounding washers properly unless u want ur car to become possessed like mine did...

Yep, just remove the clipping part inside the plug.

If your talking about the connector going to the coil pack i also have a broken lock I just put some dielectric grease in the connector to help it seal tighter. Probably a dealer part or cut one off a junk or parts car and soder it in. no big deal. if you start getting a misfire you know which coilpack to check first.

It is just the plastic part of the connector that breaks. All you need to do is replace the plastic connector housing. No need to mess with the wires. No cutting, soldering or taping necessary. Just de-pin the connector and pop the pins into the new one (make sure you get the right pins in the right positions). The issue here is that the connectors require a special tool to extract the pins from them. Usually you can improvise if you are careful, though.

This would be the connector housing you need for the ignition coils:
