    Thumbs up Forge TIP review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I ordered my forge turbo inlet hose a week ago and got it today.. I spent the weekend tearing the old one out and regreasing my forge 007 dv. I went to install it an realized the turbo size was a 1/4" too long and the air box side was a 1/4" too short... so I cut the turbo side and forced the tip onto the airbox and tightened it all up...

You can hear the turbo spooling up a little bit better, and it does spool up faster. It looks good and it doesn't rub on my s4 bixenons which is surprising because I've heard the opposite. It seems faster... but that may be because I've been driving my girlfriend's mk5 jetta all week lol. All in all I'm happy I purchased it. I got it in red.

I bought it from mjmautohaus for 169.95 shipped which was the best deal I could find until right after I ordered it when I found it on North American Motorsports website for 166.95 shipped... I shoulda bought it local from them and I woulda had it the next day. Anywho heres some pictures.

make sure if you have 04 you order PN FMA4B6IND and then pick your color. A few sites have the b5 an b6 version listed as the b5 version works on pre 04 b6 cars. So if you have 02-03 then order the b5 hose. The difference is the later style has one more connection

Looks good same color as mine, but I got the APR. Any reason you didn't go with the metal version from ER? I think I would have went this route if I have to do it again.

I like the simplicity of the silicone one and the metal holds heat more which would only add to air temps. Also I'd rather not have a million silicone hoses coming off the metal one going to other hoses and pipes... it'd be double the hose clamps.

I have a Neuspeed tip (made by forge) that has severely degraded over time. The bottom edge where the meets the turbo is pretty much falling apart now, similar to how PCV rubber hoses soften and fall apart... and after only about 25,000 miles. It also rubs on my headlight frame which has rubbed about halfway through the silicon.

Thanks for the heads up on the ER pipe, I'll probably buy that as soon as my current one becomes too fragile to reinstall.

Dannyace, yes it does come with all necessary clamps but you can reuse 1 or 2 of the factory ones. I installed this TIP the day after Waterfest (where I picked it up for $130) and have not 1 complaint about it yet. The turbo spools quicker and louder and it doesn't rub the headlight at all. The install went well and only took about an hour (most of the time removing the one-use clamps and adjusting the TIP correctly on the turbo). I'm happy with it and I don't plan on going past a K04 so it will work perfectly with it too. I ordered mine in black to keep my engine bay looking stealthy and stock. Good product

There is really no way changing this hose will create a noticable feeling in power. But it does look better. Whats the deal with the almost kinked hose?

Cool thanks. How much louder is it, not much I assume? I have an 02 so I guess I would want to order the B5? Doing a FMIC install so I will probably throw one of these on while I'm at it.

EDIT: Looking at the B5 TIP, although it only has the 4 connections, the shape seems different.

The almost kinked hose is because the hardline that goes into the tip sits a little different and thus you need to cut the hose down a little to make it not kink... thats right when i did it... since then its been fixed.

While changing leaking radiator, Forge TIp was fianlly installed. I had to trim it at the turbo side as well. But it does not fit like factory part. I have issue with the same hose since openning at tip is not at the same angle as on original part. Metal fitting is putting pressure on TIP, I hope it will not fail.
BTW. Installed Breeze constant torque clamp at the turbo side, cleaned mating surfaces with brake cleaner- should not fall off.
Will have to add slick teflon impregnated fbergalss tape near headlight.

When I added Miltek - faster spool up.
After adding TIP- even better spool up, holding boost longer, and 1 extra pound of overboost.
