So after going to a car show last night and hearing a supra with nasty cams and cut outs, i began to wonder what kind of cam options are availible for our cars, and if it is worth the money and effort to do. I know i have seen people do the rs4 cams, but are there any other options? maybe something a little more aggresive? any help would be appreciated =)

think the only ones were Revolver cams made for the 2.7t but they are no longer made. the Rs4 cams, the gains are not worth the $, better to go the 2.8 head route.

    Yep.

CatCams has a set of billet cams with uprated profiles. But they're 1700€ IIRC.

2,8 cams have too much overlap for a turbo engine ;)

That's why the 2.8 cams are almost 100% identical to the B5 RS4 (turbo) cams, right?

Actually the 2.8L cams have even more lift and duration then the RS4 cams. The Euro V6 has a less aggressive cam then we have out here.

You can run the 2.8 cams in the 2.7 heads if you want. However, when you see the port difference, its hard not to go with the whole heads.

2,8 cams are not identical to the B5 RS4 cams.

2,4 cams are identical to B5 RS4 ones, but i don't think you got the 2,4L V6 in the US.

Almost identical. More so then the B5S4 cams, atleast.
No we don't have the 2.4L here in the states, it's the diesel correct?
I remember some BTS4 guy talking about getting them, Guruman iirc, but that was before he sold off his motor. It's been too long for me to remember details.

Here I'll just solve this debate right now

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

So do you want a cam that makes the motor sound like there's marbles bouncing around or a proper cam for your setup?

The 2.8 cam has zero idle issues and has proved to be well worth the money. I have them in my car and can say there worth every penny over the factory 2.7 cam.

Why? And please be specific as possible. Logs of before and after would be nice too.

Well im only stage 3 with PJk04's, but im planning on doing cut outs in the near future. I would like a bit of an aggresive idle (if possible) but i would of course be looking for the proper cams. Any idea on what kind of gains i would expect with a cam upgrade?

cams for a more aggresive idle.... awesome. It's cheaper to just lemmi tweak the car to dump fuel at idle. The misfires will make it sound like you have an aggresive cam, and you wouldn't have spent a dollar.

Boom. Our cars are 5v per cylinder. You aren't going to find a big loppy idle unless you tune it in. Even with aggressive CAT cams (the best choice for the 2.7T, and they are $1400), our 3.0L motor with standalone on our GTi-RS project idles perfectly.
