    Adding Rear fog light?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone here done that? I had someone email me asking me for coding but I thought it was a hardware upgrade only.
Just thought I would check here before I got into code searching.

    Thanks

I don´t understand this, both avant and sedan have already TWO rear fogs as far as I know...it was me who requested a coding...for enabling rear fogs as brake lights

Rear fog lights are an option in North America. Not all trim levels come with them. This has nothing to do with brake lights.

As we have found out through other investigations you can not alter brake lights or turn signals through VCDS on the B8.

Yeah it was on my car as well. But not on all cars. Just hoping someone else already did the retro so I don't have to go looking for which bit or coding controls it. I thought the fog light option just needed the switch but not sure. Wondering now. Do the fog lights have their own bulbs on non LED tail lights?

I think they have their own bulbs, tail lights of my previous car was non-LED and even when breaking lights were on, fog lights could be turned on and off (become visible) so I assume it's not just matter of increasing/decreasing the light

My car has non-led tail lights and it has separate bulbs, both rear fogs are H21w bulbs for avants and P21w for sedans here in Europe

Well I am assuming the person who is asking for help doesn't have LED as I would think the rear fogs would be a standard option with the level. So maybe they aren't working because he doesn't have bulbs in for the rear fog lamps :)

I dont know what jabicho is talking about, but on my lights, turning on the rear fogs simply brightens the innermost bulb on the break lights...
I don't see how the bulbs that are used as the fogs can be missing, the make up part of the brake light - if they were missing, the light would only be partially lit when the tails are on

Green circles represent where lights are located
Pink arrows point to inner most lights...

These lights are not used as brake lights, however they are dimly illuminated when headlights/parking lights are on (i.e. tail lights used as running lights). They increase intensity, and become really bright, when you turn the rear fogs on.

    hope this makes sense

oh, and sorry AWE for stealing you pic

Avants must be different. My Avant has a separate distinct fog light under the driving lights on the inside cluster.....they only light when the fogs are on.

i would prefer not to blind them and have them come smashing into the rear of my car, but something strong enough where their common sense would kick in and they would go back to low beams, the "fog lights" as they are now dont seem to do that job

Here in EU we have in the inner rear lights three bulbs - two in the top for the normal tail lights, and one in the bottom for the rear fog light.

Maybe the tail lights used in NA has another setup, because they also works different then the one we have.

I've just looked in ETKA, and I can't find a lights switch without the rear fog lights button #2.

In USA in seams that you only can get the switch with both front #1 and rear #2 fog lights buttons - but in RoW you can get it without the front fog light button (but always with the rear button - like in NA).
