    Misfire after cleaning air filter

So I just cleaned my air filter last night and today drove it around for 20 minutes turned it off and then came back 10 minutes later to find that it was misfiring heavily. I plugged in my vag to see what codes its was throwing and sure enough there was a misfire code in cylinder 5. So then I logged all my cylinders to see if I was getting a misfire anywhere else but no. It seems that its only cylinder 5. Could this be due to the MAF or is it that I just coincidentally have a blown coil pack?

Most likely a coincidence, you try to do something nice for the car and it screws you.

Swap the coilpack from another cylinder since it's only happening on 5, see if the misfire follows. If so, you know that coilpack is bad. If not, well, take it from there.

Most likely a coincidence, but if you are using an oiled filter it will mess up our MAF's.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

So I switched around the coils today and then logged my car again but the misfire didnt follow, its still cylinder 5 that is missing. Where do I go from here?

Yeah hard to say, make sure your ICM's (the 2 sensors on top of your air box) are clean and re-heat-sinked if you removed them, otherwise just ensure they're still snug in place on top of the air box with good connections.

Did you unhook the ICMs while servicing your filter? Swap the plugs around and see if the missfire moves to the other bank.

I did remove the ICM's when I took the airbox off. They seem to be sitting fine

I just swapped ICM's and the misfires switch to the other side so I guess this is a good sign that its the ICM's?

Yes, just one of them, to be exact. It's the ICM with the brown connectors, IIRC.

Sorry to just jump in, but I'm having similar problems with my car multiple cylinder misfire 1,3&6, I wanted to know what you mean by re-heat -sinking the ICM's?

Since this just happened as a result of you removing them, I'd try to clean the contacts a bit, you might get lucky.
