Loud knocking when getting off accelerator?

So I have nooo idea what this problem could be. I just recently got aftermarket rotors and brake pads installed and went back to my stock s4 wheels. I'm pretty sure that it isn't the problem, but basically I was driving around and noticed a loud "knocking" sound at all speeds. I first heard it on the freeway but it was only when I would let off the gas it would start making that sound. Whenever I'd get on the gas or whenever I'd break, it would stop. When I am at a dead stop, no knocking either. I have no idea where to even start looking but has anyone had this problem before?

Could be your engine mounts, tranny mount, or your snub mount. if not try front suspension bits..

I feel like it started right after I've hit a pot hole. I believe it only is coming from the front right side of the car.

Well, jack up the car and inspect suspension then... sounds like your control arm maybe?

I've been having pretty much the same problem, but on the driver's side. It turns out the bushings on the driver's front upper rear control arm are shot, letting it knock against the bracket. That's where'd I'd start looking. GL!

Thanks a lot guys I'll go ahead and get it checked out. I know when i was driving today for a good period it stopped so I now have no idea what it could be. It'll only happen every now and then now but it looks to be possibly the control arms or bushings? Hopefully not an expensive fix!

Same thing happened to me, hit pot hole, put a dent in my rim, bulge in my tire, and now this knocking in my driver's side wheel well when I accelerate from a stop or let of the accelerator. Still trying to track it down.

Make sure your lug nuts are tight.

I got mine for around $100 from ECS, if that helps. It's the whole control arm piece.

This car seems to like to correct itself lol

I went ahead and tightened to lug nuts on all 4 wheels and well, no more rattling/sound. Dead silent.

I'll be keeping an eye out for if it comes back, but I am pretty happy that it was just as simple as that...*knock on wood*
