    how much for clutch replacement?

    Hey guys,
I am going to be purchasing a 2000 audi a4 1.8t. It has 94,000 miles and it probably going to need a clutch pretty soon. I was wondering what an average cost for the clutch to be done at a shop would be? I know when i had my 1993 300zx clutch done it was $600. So i mean anyone who can give me a ball park price it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

oem clutch would cost around 3-4 hundred at the dealership. i'd expect around another 4-600 for labor depending on where you go. so about a grand total.

If you're willing to come to bronx, ny let me know. i work with a shop that can do the labor very reasonably and if you get the clutch through them they warranty the parts and labor.

    pm me for more info.

About $300 for labor at VW/Audi shop in NY (close to TZB). Parts are another $300 or so (clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, etc).

I spent $350 for labor to replace the clutch and flywheel on my 1.8T quattro. I brought the parts, they just charged me for the labor. Some placed did quote me $700 though so you really have to do your research and shopping.

The S4 clutch is not so different from the A4 clutch in terms of replacement. Same steps, same time, and about the same labor cost.

Having the right tools is very critical. This is one of those jobs where having cheap soft tools just isn't cutting it.

x2. My labor for the clutch and lwfw was $500 but while he was in there he installed a JHM ss and bushings and new tranny mounts for free, I just supplied the parts. I don't trust anyone else working on my car. If your even remotely in the area I would go there.

My mechanic charges $250 (if I recall correct), if you supply your own parts. PM me, and I will give you information so you can call him up if you want to go that route. His shop is located in West Haverstraw, NY.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch
