What parts do we share with other Audi?

What parts do we share or would fit in our A4?

For example I was told the S5 grill fits on the A4 B8...

Im sure there are other things that may be cheaper to buy on other models and would still work on ours...

    Thanks

Considering the A4 is the lowest model line, as well as the highest selling Audi line, I would think the A4 parts would generally be the least expensive of all the model lines as everything is produced en masse. The VW stuff is what you really want, but from what I understand, since the B7, not much at all is the same anymore.

S5 grille only fits with modification... mounting tabs are in different locations.

It's not like before, if a part from an A5 fits the A4 then it uses the A5 part number. There isn't cross parts and numbers like their used to be. If it fits one they use the same part number price and description for all the others.

A1 isnt available in the US and everything on it is strict to that model.

A3 has more in common with VW's than the sedans.

I was actually going to ask the same question... I thought A3 had more or less the same parts as the A4...

not really... motors are in different orientations (closer to TT in that regard), interior has some stuff similar but not much (its more stripped down and stuff like trim is shorter).

    My mechanic's wife drives a black '06 A3.

the only parts that are "interchangeable" in a sense are other a4 lines. ie: you can change the bumpers and grill off the s4 and stick it on an a4. you can stick the dual exhaust off the avant and stick it on a sedan. that's about as interchangeable as it going to get.
The question is, when you turn on your car, does it return the favor?

Im guessing the A4 to A4 switch has to be same model type right? like I cant use the rear diffuser of a 2006 S4 right?

unless custom, nope, not even close. and in theory, if you were to try, it would prob only fit the s-line bumper
