Billy Boat exhaust on a 2009 audi a4 2.0T quattro has anyone bought this system??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone have any info on this newer exhaust? Or any suggestions on a good exhaust setup with as minimal drone as possible. i would like to get a system that has a pipe on each side. i have already bought a 3.2 valance to accomodate a better looking system. guess i'm one step ahead of myself hahaha

    any help would be appreciated.

i just ordered the billy boat setup earlier this week from ECS. I received a PDF with some specs on the exhaust from Billy Boat as well. There really haven't been any decent reviews posted of the exhaust (not sure anyone on here has it other than the guy with the prototype). Mine should be arriving the first week in May and will post a review/pics, and possibly some vids.

Indeed, but for Avant only (but I assume it'd work on sedan with new rear valance)- http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4-...ack/ES1899388/

And here is the image of a PDF Billy Boat sent over:

It doesn't sound like anyone has tried to fit system to the the sedan yet (built for Avant). So perhaps I will be the first to try. I put my order in on Friday, and BB will hopefully be shipping the catback system next week. I will have a local shop install this along with a Eurocode HFC on my 2010 A4 B8 MT sedan. I also have the 3.2L, non s-line rear valance and hardware on its way. Hopefully, everything fits without issue.

Just got my exhaust installed. It is confirmed that the B&B dual exhaust fits on the B8 sedans. I will post some photos after the weather clears up.

It sounds perfect, deep sounding and smooth - no farting - no drone. I will post a video and pictures this weekend.

Here are some photos of the Billy Boat exhaust and Eurocode HFC on my 2010 A4 Sedan (MT):

    Here is the video:

The build quality is very, very good. Every weld was done very nicely, the mufflers and tips are polished to a mirror like finish. The sounds is just right for me, no drone, not too loud or raspy, and very smooth sounding.

There is one issue with the fit though. The mid-pipe does contact the center brace and causes some rattling when going over bumps. I have contacted Billy Boat and I am awating feedback regarding this issue. I have since some made adjustments (spacers, re-aligning the pipes), but I still get some minor rattle when going over bumps. An Avant owner with the same exhaust has mentioned this issue in another post. Hopefully BB will be able to provide a resolution. Other than that, I am very happy with the results. In total I spent about $1400 in parts for the HFC, BB cat-back exhaust, rear valance and miscellaneous hardware.

So here is a photo of the interference fit of the mid-pipe with the lower tie brace.

Note that the lower tie brace is already spaced downwards with a few washers, and that the gap is minimal. I have a few ideas on how to fix this, but I was hoping that Billy Boat would provide some support. I have emailed their customer support department as well as the sales person (Mark) who sold me the system, but have not received any response as of yet.

There is another member that has the same problem with this system on his Avant, so I do believe this is going to be a problem for anyone else who buys this exhaust.

I must say, I am a bit disappointed that they are opting not to respond at this point.

After emailing the Installation Assistance department, and then the salesperson directly, I emailed the Public Relations department. Billy himself contacted me via email. I had mentioned this thread in my email and requested that a representative respond here or through email. He replied that he would have someone contact me next week. I will post their response as it relates to the fit issue.

I would assume that BB would want to keep an open dialogue with customers that run into fit issues with their products. Our feedback can only serve to provide them with a better end-product. Perhaps even more so in my case, as I am the first to fit this to a B8 sedan. So I am not too sure why they it takes three emails to get their attention, and why they haven't responded to you at all.

I did not get any support from Mike Boat regarding this issue. No answer to any of my questions, no feedback, no help. Too bad, I would have been more than willing to help him provide a better fitting product by providing feedback, as everything else is near perfect.

Anyways, I initially "fixed" the problem by shimming the lower tie bracket with a few washers and realigning the pipes. This resolved the knocking noise for just a few days, as the clamps lost a little grip after a few miles.

Since then I have resolved the interference issue permanently by replacing the supplied single bolt clamps with dual bolt, lap joint clamps, while supporting the rear section during installation. I also installed a universal hanger a the the second hanger position, that is not normally utilized for this application. This resulted in proper clearance to the lower tie brace and better support of the hanging mass. Although a proper fix would be to revise the hangers at the mid-pipe, if BB supplied the better clamps and the universal hanger I used, I probably would have been a totally satisfied customer.

    Overall - Sound = 9/10, Fit 5/10, Quality of materials = 10/10, Appearance = 9/10, Cost 10/10, Customer Support 1/10.

Too bad about BB. It's always much easier to buy products that come with manufacturer support.

Really dude???? Your going to try to promote a group buy in this thread? How about you get BB to address the issues brought up here (fitment problem, no response to customer inquiries) first.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing at first but then when you go back and read the thread the OP's overall experience and attitude with the exhaust itself is that its top-quality and sounds great! I read this thread when I first heard about the group buy and even then I still got in on the discount and got this system for my Avant. I'll post up in a month or so when I get the system installed.

Should B&B have better customer service? Absolutely. Do they make great exhausts? Yes.

Seems that with a little creativity and craftsmanship this exhaust will fit just fine and sound great...at a fraction of the price of the other systems out there. I don't mind a little modding of my mods. To each his own...

    Cheers,
I don't mind making my mods work better either, but it wouldnt have taken much for BB to respond with something or even provide me with proper clamps for this installation of the BB on my B8 sedan. The problem is myself and others have made them aware of a fit issue that would be pretty easy to fix for BB (utilize third rear muffler hanger location and provide lap joint clamps). BB chose not to acknowledge the problem and proceed with a GB. No doubt those participating in the GB will have the same problem. Although I do not mind getting underneath the car and making things work, i would have prefered some support from BB, perhaps have the parts required to make it work supplied by BB, and BB fixing this properly for those who do purchase this system in the future. Thus I would not recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an exhaust that fits perfectly without modification. With that said there is another popular exhaust sold by another certain company that appears to have its own fit issue, but sells for twice the cost.

Is anyone aware of any further fixes/support by BB on this? I am looking at getting a BB around march along with a Eurocode HFC. One of the most apealing things to me is the fact that it comes with the downpipe/midpipe (which means don't have to get the APR downpipe). The Audi/Porsche tuning shop near me rec. BB exhaust and the research seems to show its pretty good (no drone, good on cost, looks nice). Would hope that by now they have it figured out and are not ignoring it... Thanks

Honestly, I saw the install myself and when I take it back on friday for some other work Ill take photos. As far as sound goes, you won't be disappointed. If you want something loud and sporty, go with Stasis or APR/AWE. Remus sucks. Milltek is also good. I contacted Mike Boat beforehand and he said it was an install issue and I think he is right. I took the plunge and I am not disappointed in the least.

Resurrecting this thread from the grave.

It seems some of the posters above have a billy boat installed on manual transmission sedans, but I wanted to confirm that this exhaust, which is labeled as tiptronic and avant, will fit my manual trans 2.0 sedan. Since I can't find any other variants of a billy boat exhaust for the B8 I'm assuming that yes this is the one that will fit, but wanted to be certain before I spend the money. Don't want to have to pay to ship it back if it doesn't fit ya know.

Note that there is another thread with tons of folks with BB problems. I'm going with either AWE or SPM, but think I'm pretty sure for AWE with the best sound.

I still have the BB and I am just as happy today as I was on the first day. In my opinion it definitely sounds better than AWE. It has more bass with less rasp to it. To each his own though, you can't go wrong.

Mine is tiptronic but call ECS to ask the question. They sell it way cheaper anyway.

Decided to purchase this system after some more investigation. Only a handful of people seem to have complaints, most of which seem to have been with the fitment which Allan72 seemed to have solved.

Alan @ Mod Bargains hooked up a great deal and great customer service. After seeing how they handled another users very public saga regarding problems with his system I know they'll have my back if for some reason I run into any issues with the exhaust.

I'll be sure to post up some pictures and video once I get it and have it installed.

I also have the BB system and love it. Btw, the one who handled that shitty order in that thread was me when I worked at ModBargains, don't count on that kind of service on a regular basis. I was fanatic about helping out customers since I am an Audiziner and want to look out for you guys. Now that I am gone and none of the their employees even own an Audi, I have heard only negative things. Next time hit up a company like EuroCode, ECS, etc.

I put a B&B on a 2011 Sedan. Alan's work saved me a LOT of trouble. (Thanks!) I did put the more robust clamps on.

Sounds great. Fits the 2.0 6 speed with a a lot less than 1.5K worth of labor or modification. (grin)

Sounds great. Fits the 2.0 6 speed with a a lot less than 1.5K worth of labor or modification. (grin)

    7yrs later, resurrecting this....

Currently have a 2013 6spd and need an exhaust setup since the stock CB sh*t itself and there seems to be an exhaust leak somewhere mid-pipe. I'm tired of my A sounding like a riding lawn-mower at low-speed.

To the two gents above, good fit overall?
any pics or videos still around?
did you have to purchase a dual bumper valance?

    EDIT:

Ive noticed there's not a lot of help for B8/8.5 A4 owners with 6spd manuals.....

Bringing this thread back from the dead because I am considering buying this exhaust. Are there still problems with fitment of the rear cross brace and this exhaust? I was looking at the pictures but I cant tell exactly what is hitting... is it the pipe or is it the hanger that is welded under the pipe that is hitting the rear cross-brace?
