    It is official: S5 V8 acceleration times - 0-60: 4,78s

Had a free evening today so took my S5 for a spin with Racelogic V-Box installed. For those who do not know, that is one of the most accurate instruments available on the market today (if not THE most accurate). Unlike G-Tech, it is based on GPS technology, but ofc also has some build in accelerometers.

    http://www.racelogic.co.uk/

This stuff is beeing used by BMW, Ford, Daimler Chrysler, Pirelli, Goodyear, Michelin, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, the BBC's Top Gear program, Toyota, Honda etc.

Anyway, S5 acceleration times are as follows:

    0-60mph - 4,78s
    0-100km/h - 5,02s (5,1s claimed by Audi)

It is and it is not a surprise for me. It is, since it is rare to see acc times beeing better than calimed by the manufacturer. On the other hand it is not - I already knew that the car IS fast after beating friends 997.1 Carrera 2S (manual tranny) 4 times in a row on a 1/4 mile run ...

Car: 2010 Audi S5, manual transmission, 18" stock wheels, 245/something/18 Bridgestone RE50A rubber - all stock

I also measured braking distance 100-0km/h (sorry, but I have those numbers only in meters; the software can calculate that into 50-0mph or 70-0mph if you like).

    2010 Audi S5: 35,4m

As a point of reference, I also measured my two other cars: my wife's Merc and my Subaru track car:

    2006 Mercedes E-class 200K W 211: 44,0m (225/50/16 Continental Sport Contact 2 rubber, bone stock)
2002 Subaru WRX: 38,2m (MY07 OE 4-pot calipers, Toyo R888 225/45/17 semislick rubber, DS2500 performance pads, Brembo disks)

    S5 outclassed them both.

very cool. i would have a lot of fun with one of those v-boxes.

really shouldn't be a surprise that the manufacturer listed times were higher. they frequently are, especially from audi.

Right on! I have the Dynolicious app for iphone, and ran a 4.9 in the wet. Haven't bothered to try it again dry, though I should... What RPM are you launching at? I've found about 5000-5500 to feel quickest per my butt dyno

If you mean the 4k rev limiter when at a standstill? - have you tried disabling the traction control? Mine has the same rev limiter when you're not moving, and disabling the traction ctrl disables that rev limiter, and pushes the regular limiter up a few hundred RPM - I can get to about 7500 before it cuts out...

Awww man! When I turn it off I can rev to 7300 and drop the clutch if I want. 5500 feels stronger though, bit more wheelsping from the fronts...

Like I said - need to do more extensive testing...

Haha hopefully (car and driver had the 3.2 manual listed as 0-60 in 5.5 when audi said 5.8) but overall for the price of any of the cars in the a5/s5 series you can get a car that is faster so I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. How many cars look nicer for the price... that is the real question.

Wow, I'm shocked the S5 out-braked your WRX.
