The story of my car in PerfExpert dyno plots...

Here are my PerfExpert settings for the car:

I did PerfExpert pulls as I have made each change so far. While I take the absolute numbers with a grain of salt, they are probably comparable to each other, and I think they tell an interesting story. I have at least 3 pulls at each step, and the graphs are pretty consistent at each step.

When I first got it used it already had some unknown tune on it, but was otherwise completely stock, ie k03 etc. One of the first things I did was to install a boost gauge, and the car was peaking around 16psi boost if I recall correctly.

Here is a dyno log from when I got it:

Then I flashed with a base tune from Maestro:

Then I installed new coil packs (red) and plugs. Not a bad little bump for just red coils and plugs, especially if you already need to do it.

Then I had a 034 HFC installed. Not a huge hp diff, but a nice bump in torque, which I assume is because the turbo gets to kick in earlier.

Then I installed an hpfpupgrade stage 1 pump and re flashed with what Maestro refers to as their stage 2 base file. Wow. Torque bump plus look at how everything smooths out, and peak hp is achieved and held so much earlier. I definitely notice this in the butt dyno.

The fix is probably as simple as adding timing and making sure it has enough fuel.

MED9 ECU is a big boy and can handle things for the most part. If the fuel trims are excessive it will chop timing. I know this from experience.

I'm just not a fan that it is misrepresenting data. saying you made 350awtq is like saying I can do 400awhp on stock rods....can you do it, sure, but you will not last more than 2 days at that power. I would be interested in what the turbo can do reliably with a daily driver tune.

I think mine actually does. I make changes in Maestro and the car just fucking ignores them and does what it wants.

lol right? I feel that way all the time. I also always make tiny changes, you have to make big changes to see results, but big changes are dangerous! i was going up one or two degrees of timing at a time, finally I was like feck it! added 10 degrees then I noted some power increase!

This is ugly above 4500 or so and I wish they used the same Y axis scales for torque and HP as well! I would love to see spark advance and BSFC and Lambda plotted as well. I bet this thing went either very lean causing spark retard due to detonation or something like that - I can't tell because there isn't enough data. One thing I do know is that engine is going to be more than happy to grenade itself when you rev it high. I'd also like to know how the rods are going to hold.

He built the engine, so the rods will hold just fine.

Seth car is breaking new ground with his tune by being the first E85 tune and using a Mk6 Golf R tune. Jeff from UM and Gabe are testing everything to make the tune perfect. So I bet with you it would only take a week. Schedule it ahead of time to call a rental car shop.

i'm just not tryna get in a situation like i did with RAI where they dicked around and didn't get it done on time and then i missed an extra week of work (here the cost would much less as it would just be the rental vs. the opportunity cost of a weeks worth of work, and the problem would not be dicking around but the distance between UM and BW)

A week would be fine by me. I don't understand why it takes a week in the first place, haha... only took 5 revisions and a day for Dan to get to 415awhp . but whatever i have to take what i can get I suppose. HPR or bust
