Is it even possible to play videos (divx? other formats?) from SDHC cards?
    Many thanks
Hasn't anyone an answer for this? (what surround files may be handled?).
Just ordered my new A4 with Navi+ and B&O... and I'll discover in 3 months time (mid october), but I'd like starting to setup a surround library from my multichannel SACD at home...
    Tks!

I got this option on my car, and it compares favorably to the Mark Levinson 19 speaker stereo upgrade in the Lexus LS 460

After months of use... yes, I can say the B&O system is great at playing music, little better than my good old Mark Levinson in a Lexus IS.

Anyhow... I've still the problem not being able to play multichannel music from anything different from a physical DVD. That's a REAL pity for the system, a strong limitation that could have been easily solved by Audi.

Imho it's really disappointing that an important constructor, such as Audi is, has decided not to upgrade the 2010-11 MMI-3G operating system to support multichannel wav files via SDHC...
I tried speaking with them - mid August 2010, even before receiving the car - and one of the Audi media engineers told me that the MMI 3G (that I would have received in november 2010!) was already "old" and in desupporting software lifecycle: they were already working only on the subsequent version...
Not a nice thing to know... especially given the fact that the MMI 3G has an huge installed base. Not nice.

Interesting. Outdated before it was even installed. I won't be holding my breath for updates.

    Maybe.
But if lots of people complains against a not so "careful" Audi support... such an important constructor SHOULD reply and find / address a solution... Do they say they are an innovative company or it's all smoke?

Innovative in the minds of the general public, perhaps, but for those of us who are initiated, we know better.

    That's correct...
But serious companies cannot now avoid monitoring social media and user forums... if they lose their first "advocates", their ambassadors... no good: they would loose a lot... especially against brands that are doing a lot to push for innovation.

I test drove a 2013 past night and heard the B&O it sounded the same as the Audi concert system. No added bass or amp. I'm not impressed.

Truthfully, I think the Audi Concert is fine. Then again, I'm easily satisified with the white ear buds that come with the Apple products if that tells you anything.

I really like the B&O sounds system. Could benefit from one more sub, tricky part is finding a place to hide it as the stock one is built into the trunk. Also without making the trunk rattle. I think the 14 speakers are great and I use an iPod hooked up. My music is 192 kbps... Lovin' the system. Well worth the upgrade when getting a car as adding an after market system may cost a whole lot more than going with the B&O upgrade.

I hated my B&O when I first got it (for the $$ I paid). But after hours (yes hours!) of tweaking/adjusting the factory settings on the road, I actually found the sound quality that I was looking for in terms of voice quality and mid range. I also find B&O to be quite picky on the quality of audio files you put in. Next step would be adding a small subwoofer since the battery is already in the trunk, this will be a very easy to do weekend mod.

@tingman: are you able to add a new subwoofer in that huge amount of cables? I gave a look to the B&O ampli in the A4 Avant trunk and... wow, seems to see a lot of proprietary connectors and lots of cables.
I'm looking to integrate a new 5.1 external digital source (DTS Music, via SPDIF) or an already decoded 5.1 analog source (6 cables).
Would you know if possible, or how?
I'll soon post my xCar schema, eg. what i'm building with an external media center (raspberry pi).
In the meantime you could look at this:
