    No not the software company. :-)

    Just want to know if someone had heard comments about their products that are used mainly outside the Audi community, maily on some Jap cars, American cars and BMWs.

    I'm thinking og getting this for the car...

    APR Performance's GTC-300 adjustable wing. I would get the 67 inch wide wing. With multiple adjustments available from 0 degree of AOA to 15 degrees of AOA it was shown to produce up to 461 pounds of downforce at 12 degrees of AOA and 120 mph. This was tested using CFD simulations in theoretical "free air". Now this said it wouldn't create that much downforce in the real world because of the turbulence behind/below the roof line of the car.

    More technical info on this wing here...

    ive been looking at s2000's a LOT recently and have come to really appreciate a lot of APR's products. i think you'd be getting quality stuff.

    a friend of mine has a lower pan/diffuser/whatever for his wrx (goes under the rear bumper and looks badass... makes a semi-belly pan on the back) ..... i can say first hand that the build quality is top notch. very sturdy, very well made parts.

    I'm also getting these from them... Lighter and less drag then our OEM ones and not that expensive at $195 for the pair.

    Good to know they are running one. I'll have to call them and get some feedback on it.

    Thanks for the picture.

    I wonder if APR makes a rear diffuser for the B6 A4? Doesn't look like on their site.

    This thing will look retarded on an Audi. And BTW, if you wanna get any pussy dont put it on any car :) Any female I know thinks that a big spoiler looks trashy and cheap (they do not know that it might cost couple grand) High end German cars are pussy magnets, so dont make Audi look like a Dodge Neon haha

    BASARAB, since you are a new user, you must not be familiar with Jet's car. It is a stripped-out, track-only race car.

    LMAO... Pussies are over rated! I'd much rather spank, abuse, bitch and kick the shit out of my car on the track then deal with women. At least my car never complains! :-)

    Just watch out if that ever comes off. I saw a wreak of Scuby get messed up into a wall on the same track in your last video because of a wing issue. Not sure what brand or what happened to it since I just saw the video, but glad you got a nice cage in incause of a problem like that.

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...h-subaru-crash

    Just was reading to find this was the problem with the wing! So I would trust APR wings now that I read this:
    Yes that's correct. There are a few threads on my accident but it wasn't made clear here that I don't blame APR (I won't be buying another however). I've used the wing for 3 years as supplied and we made taller stands on our own accord. It worked great for the few laps the wing held up. My warning is not to raise the wing without considering what happened when we did it.

    Jet Jockey,

    I don't anything about the spoiler you are looking at, but you should check out Crawford Composites, they build most of the areo wings used by IMSA and American LeMans racers. Check out their web site at www.crawfordcomposites.com

    Jet, I know a kid who is an aerodynamicist, here as an exchange student from Belgium. How much downforce do you want? I'll have him calculate a wing size for you.

    From wiki: to create downforce, the whole shape of the car is taken into account.

    And to quote from the website the OP posted: "What we need to know is that the vehicle body has enormous effect on the air flow that reaches the airfoil."

    the formula for downforce of a wing is given by:

    D = 1/2 * (WS * H * AoA) * F * ρ * V^2

    Where:

    * D is downforce in newtons
    * WS is wingspan in metres
    * H is height in metres
    * AoA is angle of attack
    * F is drag coefficient
    * ρ is air density in kg/m³
    * V is velocity in m/s

    So we need someone to check the A4's body and curves first, do some calculations based on that, then go from there to see if its worth it or not. Its not just about slapping something in and expect some downforce results.

    From the shape of the A4, it does not look too aerodynamic to me, but I could be wrong, since am judging based on visual comparisons only.

    From Nasa's website:
    "Unwanted drag which accompanies downforce will slow the car. The efficient design of a chassis is based on a downforce/drag compromise. In addition the specific race circuit will place a different demand on the aerodynamic setup of the car."

    There are two reasons why this accident happened.

    #1- The wing is not made to be raised near or over the top of the roof line of a sedan type car. The owner admitted to making his own longer supports to get the wing as high as possible. This created a lot more downforce but also induced a lot of sideway motion in the whole set up... The supports were not strong enough or rigid enough to stop the sideways sway motion of the wing.

    #2- But even more problematic was the fact that the wing's structure was attached to a flimsy Carbon Fibre trunk! Now imagine that because there are even more sideway loads and swaying of the wing, the attachment of the wing failed at the Carbon Fibre point of the trunk but just ripping apart.

    That one reason I'm keeping my steel OE Audi trunk. Besides I have it down in weight to just about the same weight as a Carbon Fibre trunk except it is still very rigid. My mounting points will be most likely the edge of the trunk where there is a lot of meaty steel.

    Crawford make really awesome wings, maybe the best but they are very, very expensive. My friend with a BMW looked into their wings but they were something like $3500!

    I disagree. BASARB should have realized by the opening post which informed the need for specific downforce requirements.
