How often do you change spark plugs and ignition coils? How many miles intervals?

I changed my coils and plugs 11k miles ago...no problems what so ever, but I am curious. Also do you change them together?

For plugs I know that with copper ones, change every oil change, with iridiums and platinums, they last a LONG time. Coilpacks I have no idea. I just change them when they blow...haha

coilpacks, change them when they go bad.

    Spark plugs, copper= 5,000 miles, iridium/platinum=40,000 miles

woow i did not expect the intervals to be soooo long :) okay. What is the diffeence between these spark plug and why would somebody want the cooper ones if they only last 5000 miles, or the trick is they are sporty in some way?

The copper ones are much cheaper, and supposedly they transfer the spark better or something and give more power. Correct me if I'm wrong experts.

Copper plugs conduct electricity and heat better and are cheaper but corrode faster. The iridium and platinum plugs are made with more precious metals so are much more expensive but last much longer.

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

i just switched from platinum to copper, because i cant keep track of when i need to change 30-40k mile plugs. so i change my copper plugs every 4k with my oil change. as for coilpacks, theres no need to replace them unless they go bad.
