    Question Wind deflector/screen

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello all, I am new to Audi and picked up an 05 A4 3.0 a few months ago. The weather here in Chicago is finally becoming nice enough to put the top down. The car came with the wind deflector/screen. Does anybody use this? I've never had a cabriolet before so I am unsure how useful they are. Thanks!!

I've tried it a couple times... but I actually prefer it without.

Really? Without it I think the wind is too chaotic in the cabin (from left and right). But with it is actually a lot calmer and you feel just a little breeze even when you are driving at 90mph. Although the Audi windscreen for A/S4 cab isn't as effective as BMW's 6 series. In the 6, you can be driving 100-120 and only get the wind noise, not much wind at all.

I love the screen. It makes a huge difference when the temps are a little cooler but I still want the top down.

Stereo sounds better, and it's easier to have a conversation at 120km/hr.

fsttrp, hopefully you're not driving those speed limits regularly. lol :)

I've only had mine since late last fall and used it a only a few times but love it.

Does this really cost something like $500 or $800 as a dealer item - I can't remember what I saw. Picked mine up from Ebay.

Yeah, good thing I'm in Shanghai now. One more ticket and they would have revoke my DL. On a site note, I only drive fast when the road is empty. 90mph is very usual in Southern California.

Anyway, yeah it is an expensive accessories for pretty much all convertible I think. It is what a lot of people, with this kind of car, consider as essential. My S4 comes with it, and I got my 650's one from eBay.

Just an update. Since we've had some nice weather I tried with and without the windscreen. Much better with, especially if you have to take a phone call with the top down.

Also keeps the stuff you store in your back seat from flying out.

Don't really see the point of erecting a tent around me to keep wind out of a convertible.

I picked one up off of ebay for about 140 shipped, got here today. Just got an 06 cab a couple of weeks ago for the lil woman. Gonna put the screen in when I get home from work and go for a ride.

Tried to put in the windscreen last night, no joy. Seller said it would fit an 06 A4 but it's not even close. Search goes on for another one....

^^^ Was it an OEM screen from a different model year, or a knockoff?

It looks like an OEM screen, but no part number that I can find. I still have it, the seller said keep it for the aggravation after my refund.

What part numbers fit the A4?

I always use the window in my TT. The previous owner put an american flag on it and some people hate it but .... I kinda like it. and I think it has gotten me out of alot of trouble so it stays.

but there is a huge difference with my window up as apposed to down. Not to mention mine does not like to go all the way down and looks stupid so I just keep it up.

    Wind deflector all the way.
Think they are about £180 here in England direct from Audi.

    i use mine.
funny that i didn't know it was there in the trunk when i bought the car in atlanta. drove it back to st louis with no wind screen.
it makes a big difference for the reduction of cabin cross winds. having long hair, it was flying every where on that trip, but i was on such an "audi high" with my new purchase, it didn't matter!
