    Audi Unintended Acceleration

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey Guys, I started having a weird problem today with my 2006 Audi A4. When I am in the park position just started the car, the car accelerates by its self. The rpm goes from 1 to 3, goes down and does the same thing. And sounds real loud when it accelerates by its self Feels like someone is driving the car lol.

Anyone ever experienced a problem like this? Maybe it was a recall kinda like the toyota sudden acceleration recall?

    All Help Is Appreciated.

ok, this is a common issue.

Step 1. Turn the Car off
Step 2. Step outside the car and walk a lap around it
Step 3. Return the Toyota Prius keys and get your B7 keys and start it up.

    Problem solved.

Yeah I was going to say sounds like a possible vacuum leak. If air leaks into the intake system after the throttle body it might cause something like this I think. It really should only happen in park or neutral though, because no additional fuel is probably going to get injected. The likelyhood of the car actually accelerating in a case like this seems very low because of the lack of additional fuel. It would just run lean and misfire.

Audi actually did have acceleration problems back in the 80's. It's just recently that Audi has been able to become a "good, reliable" brand in the United States.

That was debunked as a bunch of crap. Basically dumb ass American drivers accidentally hitting the gas instead of the brakes. 60 minutes made a phony demonstration that caused hysteria.

Well the dealer with replace it for free since there is a recall. You can drive it but I wouldn't drive it unless your goin to the dealer to fix it. I dunno what will happen if you drive it but I wouldn't want to find out. Maybe its fine to drive but I can't say so. First do as I previously stated, if it feels like a vacuum them call the dealer make an appointment. Dont forget to remind them to replace the coils and dv with the updated ones if you haven't done so already.

right, because the rest of the world never had the problem, typical dumb ass Americans that don't know how to operate a car. Not mentioning a 30 year old "problem" has what relevance today?

I was going to say that..even the NHTSA did a study and couldn't find anything wrong with the cars beside the component that resides between the wheel and drivers seat.

Could be a gas pedal sensor as well. I had a similar issue on my B6...it would idle at like 4500 RPM in neutral lol.

Just curious, wouldn't it be the opposite? PCV draws crankcase gas out and recycles into the intake, creating a negative pressure (vacuum), which would cause the cap to feel like it's being sucked down. I would think if it's bad, you would have air escaping when you remvoved the cap. That's how I understand it, but am perfectly willing to be proven wrong.
