    Installing Aftermarket Pedals

    Hey zine

I just picked up a pair of MOMO Corsa aftermarket pedals..and Ive got a couple questions.

I got my brake pedal cover pryed off, but when I try the gas pedal one..it doesnt feel the same as the brake, it feels like plastic and doesnt peel back? Is there a special way of getting this one off?

When trying to drill through the brake pedal metal i couldnt seem to penetrate through the metal itself...how should I go about this?

First off - The gas pedal IS plastic. The other pedals are metal, clad in a rubber boot.
So, you need a METAL drill bit to drill those. Trying to drill metal with a wood drill bit will simply not work at all.
Also, make sure you use a punch of some kind to mark your drill holes - you dont want to be holding the pedal in place, and drilling at the same time - thats a recipe for an off-center pedal.
For the plastic pedal, just use the same metal bit you used on the other pedals.

I would use an angled power drill with a metal drilling bit. I didn't have one when I installed mine, but sure wish I did. THe clutch is fairly easy to drill into, because of the motion it can extend to. The brake pedal is not so courteous. And as mentioned above, the gas pedal is plastic. You shouldn't need to drill a hole into the gas pedal. The pedal set I have has basic screws that screw into the gas pedal.

    Alright cool..

So for the gas pedal I just mount the aftermarket pedal on top of it? The screw set that mine came with requires that there be a nut on the underside to tighten the pedal...are yours the same?

My kit has nuts and bolts for the clutch and brake pedal. Screws for the dead/rest and gas pedal that simply screw into the plastic.

Is it a bit designed for that particular metal? I used a bit that was part of the power drill kit, and it had metal drill bits that came with it (borrowed it from a freind). But yeah, if it is the correct drill bit then it should drill into the pedals. It will start off with metal shavings flaking off where you are drilling (this will basically be your pilot hole). Then it becomes easier to drill. Just place a little more effort into it, because installing race pedals is a major PITA. But the joy of having them when complete makes up for all the frutration.

Pics of when I was finished (don't mind all the debris, my car was just dirty at the time due to drilling and it just being dirty)
