    Hi Guys,

    I just got to know the VIN & Engine Code for my 2010 2.0 A4 (That I am getting by the end of this month)
    The VIN starts with WAUZZZ
    And the Engine code starts with CDN.

    Just out of curiosity, could you guys help with decoding it ?

    Thanks,
    M

    A Audi
    U Passenger car
    ZZZ Body Style ie 4 door 2 door Avant...Engine, 3.2 2.0 1.8.

    There are lots of vin decoders online but without the entire vin it's impossible to translate properly.

    Thanks for the quick reply, I don't understand the 3 Zs though, I saw a VIN explanation card, last letter that Audi uses is Y.
    Is this VIN generic, or is my dealer silencing me with a fake VIN ?

    The ZZZ is standard in all RoW Countries - but can have a meaning on NA cars where it will be different from ZZZ (are always used in NA (on export cars) - and it is the same with the letter/digit after the model code - e.g. 8K)

    http://www.nininet.de/fahrgestellnummer.html
    http://www.audic4.de/fahrgestellnummer.html
    http://s2central.net/vin_entry_sonic.html

    This is mine VIN: WAU ZZZ 8K 3 9 A xxxxxx

    WAU = Audi
    ZZZ = No meaning on my car - but on NA cars
    8K = Model type
    3 = No meaning on my car - but on NA cars
    9 = Model Year (2009)
    A = Where the car is build - here in Ingolstadt, Germany
    xxxxxx = Build number / sequential numbering

    OK, now that makes sense, for the triple ZZZ.
    Thanks Rene

    Hello all, question in relation to my VIN - an Audi A4 2.0 tdi.
    My vehicle VIN# is : WAUZZZ 8E 7 6A059502 It is Audi A4. Can you translate this... I understand "wauzzz" from previous posts , 8E (=A4).
    The "7" is very faint and in a different script..I understand this to be a "check digit" . Am I right? Now, what about the remaining part of the code? I.E. "6A059502" ? , particularly what the letter "A" means? Also I believe the "6" refers to it being a 2006 model ..but I find this confusing in that my car was first registered in 2005! Weird!!
    The reason I need to know is that I need a replacement engine ( oil pump issue - chain drive). Have picked up that I need an engine with code:
    8E*6*080172 upwards ~( i.e. gear drive for oil pump ) rather than an engine with a VIN up to - 8E*6*080171 ( chain drive system, like my own which is the cause of my problem). Hence appreciate explanation of VIN so I know exactly what I am talking about when contacting engine dealers!

    Thank You , V.
