As far as i know my 02 does not have sensors on the front pads. I got the part number from audi based on my vin, and the pads have sensor wires. Do i just cut them off??

If you don't have a spot to plug them in, then yes, you can cut them off.

So there is a spot to plug the sensors in, but ive never gotten a bad pad warning. hmmm

And these pads were driven past any usable material so the sensors should have been triggered.

Bit off topic but is it possible to turn off the sensor warning on a 04 with vagcom?

    Thanks

I was told there was a sensor in the 02 by audi mech. It says it does in the owners manual, or at least for the 3.0l
If it isn't broke, don't fix it... EDIT. It will be broke soon.

I have an 02 with sensors. I didn't see how the wires would could be run from the bottom of the pad on my HPS pads so i cut it off and just ground out the wires and plugged it into the harness.

And when I looked this up a year a so ago I couldn't find anything that said exactly how to do so in VAG. Below is where the sensor is located.

    Thanks NetLogic.

I was having random/sporadic ABS/Traction control light on issues.

When I ran the VAG-COM 1 Fault Found:

00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus.

So I replaced both front sensors and then my sporadic warning lights became permanent, with the addition of the brake pad sensor light ((0)).

I unplugged that plug circled in purple above and I put a wire to loop/bypass the sensor, but my brake pad warning is still on.

I've been searching for a while now, and I have come across multiple threads with the same issues, but none have results.

I still have the ABS error, It will not clear with the VAG-COM.
I am at a lost and do not know what else to do.
This error was the main reason I bought my VAG-COM for.

I know if I take it to the stealer they will charge me an arm and a leg and will try to replace everything under the sun .

It is most likely that you are still having a problem. Maybe something is causing the wheel speeds to read differently. Are your tires worn funny? My rears were worn worse then my fronts. That caused me some ABS problems.

i fought the same problem.....spliced them up and thought the warning would go away....NOPE! but ecstuning has looped sensor wires that plug into the connector on the car side. that corrected my problem. i think it has to do with the resistance of the wire. once you splice it, it changes and starts throwing a code. cut the brake pad sensor lines down, plug the loop from ecs into the connector on the car side, and thats it.

Update: Same issues with additional new code after I removed an re-installed the sensors.

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: None
    Control Module Part Number: 8E0 614 517 A
    Component and/or Version: ABS/ESP allrad 1726
    Software Coding: 04275

    3 Faults Found:

01826 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30
    35-00 - -
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Right (G45)
    27-00 - Implausible Signal

After clearing the codes they immediately come back on with the exception of [00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Right (G45)
27-00 - Implausible Signal] <** this one clears.

Update- I replaced the front pads again in hopes that the brake pad warning would clear. (It did not)

After replacing both from abs sensors and both front brake pads and sensors.

I still have the: 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
As well as the brake pad warning.

If anyone has new ideas, please respond. Thanks

I would check the wiring and connectors to ensure they are clean and not broken.

Checked all, and replaced with new. then checked and swaped the left with the right to see, if I would get a different result.

Between this(ABS/Brake pad sensor) and the A/C not working, I really hate this car right now.

Are you trying to say the ABS wheel speed sensor is somehow related to the brake pad wear sensor?

Have you checked the ABS ECU module connections as I know they are prone to play up.

I think I have two separate issues that are perhaps related.

The brake pad sensor gets pluged in the abs sensor harness. so, yes, I do believe they are related.

The brake pads were still looking like new when I replaced them the other day. The only reason I replaced them was because it gave me new brake pad sensors, since I had spliced the old ones up and looped them and I was still getting the error. Someone had suggested that I could not do it that way because they(pad sensors) needed resistance.
