My 96 A6 2.5 TDI

Hello there, from cold Norway!

Thought I could make a thread here, to get some inspiration, learn things, and get tips and tricks from u ;)
Things won't go fast, as I am only an "apprentice" at the time!
The car is a 2.5 5cyl TDI 140hp 6MT. No leather seats stock, AC(doesnt work..), el. windows in front, sunroof..

Done to it until now:
-Lowered, Weitec dampers and springer 60/40mm
-Changed from euro to US blinkers, moved the parking light from the highbeam to the blinker
-18x8,5 RS4-1 at summer
-16x8 BBS RG (Audi V8) at winter
-HID in high and low beam
-Removed one silencer, and mounted straight pipe with 2x2.5" ends
-Tinted windows, not 100%, done it myself
-Black rings at the rear
-Front seats from Audi V8, sport and leather..
-S6 front and struts mounted
-New headlights with foglights integrated
Bet there's things I've forgot!

Plans for the car:
-New nozzles, PP764 from Fratelli Bosio
-New software for the engine - make it a "faster" tractor
-Paint it all the way down
-New exhaust
-New rims <- Tips?

Don't know how much power from the stock turbo, but with only chip and new bigger nozzles maybe 160 hp?.. torque i have no clue.. i'll try to get it dyno'ed after its done.
But as I have read, to get more power of these engines after chip, u have to change the turbo..

Hmm.. About 45-47 MPG.. Can that sound realistic? Tried to convert it from norwegian miles per litres to us miles per gallon.. Cheap car, thinking of the weight, engine cc and age..

Today I ordered S6 fenders for my car.. Going at vacation to Austria at Saturday, staying there for one week, and when I come home, 2 new fenders waiting for me:D The only thing missing then is painting and S6 frontbumper..

Yesterday I got my S6 fenders, and today I got new headlights with foglights, exchanged with a friend.. Just ordered new xenonlights, 6000k in low beam, and 4300k in high beam, and ordered 3000k for the foglights, just to test, got extra bulbs at 6000k for the fog lights too.. Next month I buy s6 frontbumper, then a friend of mine helps me paint bumper and fenders, and at the same time we'll paint the car so it is painted "down under"..

Dagi, can you tell me more specificly and maybe in pictures of how you "moved the parking light from the highbeam to the blinker". I'm trying to do opposite by "Deleting" my parking brakes and moving that into my fogs(when I get the S4 headlights) but of course keep my bottom fogs. The problem that I'm dealing with is that parking light is actually the same light bulb as blinker. And when I tried looking at the wires and trying to experiment something, nothing worked, instead I burner one of my fuses thats for the left side front/rear lights. After that I asked some guys on QuattroWorld about the wires and they said 1 of the wires is the Ground and the other 2 is the Power. So if that's true which is probably true anyways than I'm left with nothing:( At first I thought that one of the wires was for blinker and the other was for parking and the other was power, that's why I though maybe I can EXTEND the parking one a bit, put it together and install it into my future fogs but it didn't go exactly that way. So I'm asking you if you can maybe take a picture of your set up in the back on the blinker. And maybe even the same with your rear one. The US rear ones are the same pain the the ass, it light up the blinker part as well at night, I personaly hate it. The Euro's might had different wiring for both front and rear, that's why I want to find out...

After I installed the HIDs I just removed the cover behind the headlights, driving without it.. Gonna take out both headlights today, so I can take pics of then.. Did not exactly understand the question, did u mean both front parking lights and rear, or just the front light? :) Tired after a hard day at work :p

Today I am mounting my S6 reflexplate too, pics will come :)

Oh, don't worry about overtaking my thread, its just fun to help! You can send me a PM with the pics, so I can explain what to do.. For my blinkers I bought new bulb holder(Original VAG part, gonna find part #) that has 2 poles and 1 to ground, and a 5w/21w bulb.. Did'nt take of the headlights today, instead I mounted this:


But since I don't have the cover behind the headlights, I just cut the +wire to the parking bulb, and extended the wire from the headlight to the blinker.. Hope it helps! Will try to take a picture soon..

That's exactly what I kinda did with the extension of the wire but instate it didn't work because the electrical thingy is probably programed for American C4 only back then+I burned the fuse because I guess it was way more power than it suppose to have. I will try maybe tomorrow to flick with camara of what I wanted to do last time, don't want to try again because I don't have an extra fuse like last time. And I'll PM you the pictures, hopefully you will get my point. I will also try to include description and write up for every pic.

Nice S4 trunk lights! Now you need to lose that ugly stock exhaust and put some nice loud C4 style 2 tip:) Something like this maybe or same like what I got on mine))) That tip totally gives your C4 a mean look when somebody drive in the back.

im lovin it man! i was looking at an audi 200 20 valve but im not sure how much work i would have to put into it. he says that he put 5k into the engine but an animal chewed some of the wiring harness cause he has had it sitting for 2 years... i could probably pick it up for 400 bucks though

Thanks man! Audi 200 20v is great cars, looks pretty good too.. If the engine got good compression and the comp. difference in each cylinder is not too big, it should be an okay buy.. I would guess u can find new wiring harness at ebay.de or something like that, and then it's just to replace the old chewed one..

Thanks, but it's actually S6 trunk lights :) Did change the stock exhaust from double 1 1/4" tips to double 2 1/2" tips :p with that round one you showed at the pic there will be much soot(?) from the diesel that makes the trunk and back fender all "matt black".. Have thought about.. Maybe I weld a whole new exhaust in the summer :)

Here I tried to paint how I did the parking light :)
1. Lets say the green dot is the parking light, inside the headlight, you just cut the red(in my headlight) wire to the parking light.
2. You extend the red wire, like the red line, from the parkinglight to the blinker. I changed the bulb holder, to the US type, with park and blink contact, and earth contact.
3. Then the blue line at the blinker is blink signal from relay and the brown is to earth, for both blink and park light.. Don't remember if it was blue at my car, just took a color now..

Got my S6 fender too today, so in a couple of weeks I will have the car painted, looking like an S6 I hope!

Thanks for a picture man but I did my way quite different+I don't have the S4/S6/A6 headlight yet, just those stock 100 ones. So I was just testing to see if it would work...yours a bit confusing although a get some of it. For some reason like I said before, the guy told me that those 2 wires are just power and they both have to work for blinker and parking so if you cut one then you lose both. The Brown is Ground(which in your write is is called Earth).

Sorry I meant S6 lights:) Did you take off your bottom fogs? I actually liked that, you could probably tried to make 2 fogs, 2 inside the headlight and 2 on the bottom. Connect the wires together and get stronger fuse and I think that would work well+very bright!

For the exhaust park yeah...diesel always made some black smoke and you have to get the cars washed all the time from the back. I'm not sure if you want to make it louder and not sure on how the Norway police petrol responds to that since Norway is a very clean air country but in order to make it loud you want to get a good back muffler, if you want to go louder you delete the resonator and to go completely loud you cut the cats off(converters) and make it a straight pipe going on the bottom. Although after you cut them you will be like those old Deisel Mercedeses that blow smoke everywhere and it smells badd. I redid my complete exhaust system last summer because the factory one was DEAD...all rusted and no good to pass the emissions. I am a bit surprised of how low TDI is on the horsepower, I always though I was slow with my 180HP but yours is 140HP. Good on gas though that for FACT!

Doesn't have any rear fog lights yet, as I changed the switch when I mounted front foglights, need new cover where the switches are, so I can mount height adjustment at the lights, and rear foglight switch..
I actually were thinking of building some more lights in the S6 lights, but I'll wait a bit, need the parts first..

Have removed the rear muffler, got a bit more sound, and the car accelerates better too.. Don't want too much noice, but som turbo-sound is e must for the TDI! The cats don't got something inside.. It got closed down by soot :p But yeah, car is cheap to drive, at summer I can get 1600km and still have 3-4 litres diesel left

yeah I don't know why Audi back then only made 1 opening for rear fog light. I had the same with my older(american version) but when I got my Euro 100 rear lights shipped from Europe they actually had both opening. So now I just gonna somehow connect the other extra socket to the wires and finally have both rear fog lights instade of 1 like it was made.

By the way, we have quite a few members from Norway here and Sweden i seen them post before but I think they are on B5 forums. I'm my self originally from Ukraine but study here in US for sometime now, got a buddy back in Ukraine who owns a nice A6 like yours except its a dark blue 2.8E

And by the way, got front fender last week, and had a cupra r lip laying, thinking of mounting this to the front fender, when it is painted, and done

looks okay in my eyes :p just have to adjust and cut it a bit when mounting it..

Here's the struts, seems to be in good condition.. Gonna change the damper and spring from my stock a6 struts to the s6 struts, so it still can lay low


On the struts there were locked some stock Bolero rims too, with lockingbolts, so they couldn't get them off Didn't make me sad.. This is the rim with most scratches..
Think I'm gonna try to either get two more, or just have one of these as a spare wheel in the trunk

Tomorrow I'll get home urS4 interior for the car.. Found it on a norwegian forum. Black sport leather in great condition.. Sucks that S6 interior for sedan is so hard to find :/ But as I have seen, the only difference at urS4 and S6 interior is the headrest I think.. Can someone confirm? Or maybe I should ask in the Misc. Audi/Classics section?
