Underbody Plastic Ripped off by snow.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Yeah, well after fucking around too much and realizing something was dragging and hearing it under my car, I see that the plastic that is under the driver side it hanging down (only the first part of it) and it is missing a corner of it. I removed two of the 10 mm plastic caps that is holding on the plastic. At first I thought I would be able to just zip-tie it back up, but there is nothing to zip-tie it too. I don't have any jack except the one that came with the car. I got all the snow out of the plastic, what now?

LOL..pretty standard. I lost my belly pan during the last snow storm...and for this snow storm I was forced to drive to work and the ice build up in the roads were too big for my car to clear (lowered). Let's just say I bottomed out the whole way there...Traction isn't an issue clearance is. I just hope nothing underneath is cracked/torn/or bent. I did go slow, but still...

Edit: This is in Maryland...I really need to change my sig.

I did the same thing. Was hoping it wasn't too expensive to replace. I'm buried though, won't be able to get out until next week. I need to get the transmission TSB taken care of so I was going to do this at the same time.

some company talked about making an aluminum belly pan but i think they abandoned the project. would have been nice tho. drill a hole in the belly pan then ziptie to bumper cover tight.

BTDT - though it sounds like not as bad as you. In my case it was hitting ice chunk castoffs left by semis. Mine is ripped but not dragging, so I just left it as-is. Dealer quoted me several hundred for a new one, so I passed. Good luck.

i lost my belly pan in the snow - got ripped off because i am too low. Actually, my audi dealer hooked me up and charged me 150 for the pan and all of the pins. It is usually a 195 dollar item without the pins.

you see im not talking about the belly pan though, I ripped off a completely different piece of plastic. It is one that is on the drivers side of the car, and covers between the two wheels. It was covering some wires that were being run to the back of the car. I just had to take off the whole piece of plastic, hope those wires dont get fucked up or anything.

be thankful, it wasn't your passenger side. that's where the fuel lines run... those side belly panels are not cheap. a bozo mechanic cracked both of mine trying to put my car on a lift: $250/each from the dealer. I put epoxy on the cracks for now.

    don't worry about it.

just leave it off, it won't be a problem.

people will tell you otherwise, but based on my personal experience with a lowered car driving on some of the worst road in the country, it was never a problem without one.

Theres a company called Beatrush. They make aluminum underpanels. I had one on my celica but i dont think they make them for our cars. Im sure with enough interest they might make them. Either that or find a shop that can make one for us.

It was cool, i guess it helped with cooling the car too.

The small front one costs like 25$, the big piece is like 125$, I think I'm just gunna leave it off for now.

Yesterday morning I lost my driver side cover from just normal driving in the snow. I'm going to get underneath the car tomorrow to remove the rest of the plastic and check for any damage. Not happy.

Same here, Just normal driving but I think that when I had the repaird done they forgot to put the tabs back on to hold the front of the pan up so it was hanging just enough to ack as a shovel and after that it all down hill from there.

I was gonna say something about Florida not having snow and us southerners not having to deal with it. Then you go and remind me of the heavy rain and hidden potholes.

Just dropped my baby off at the dealership to look at the underbody plus some other random stuff. Am friends with the service manager IRL so I don't think I'll have any trouble. I'll let you all know what they take from me.
