what do you guys think is the better deal feature wise, i know the cc sport has more standard features then the premium b8 but wondered what u guys thought... take a look at them and let me know.. regardless the b8 is sexier haha just wondering because the CC is a solid competitor to the b8 considering it has the same engine and what not.

Other than displacement, their respective engines are entirely different AFAIK.

Would you eventually need awd? Or do you have a DD/Junker for the snow? Assuming you are comparing 2 fwd German vehicles.

The techincalities of the engine itself is where the hp differs, wiring etc.

For the price you could get into a WAY better car than the CC. They really aren't in the same class. If you're willing to spend the 40K for a 4motion cc with the VR6, why not just get the B8 with quattro standard for almost 10 grand less, and get a better performing and better looking car.

Both are really nice cars that are comparible in many ways.

With the CC, I believe you need to go all the way to the top to get the 4 Motion, so you are looking at $43K, but you also get the buttery VR6.

Interior refinements go to the Audi hands down. Although the leather that has been going into VW's lately is VERY nice.

Exterior styling is not a fair comparison. They are both totally different vibes.

Resale value FWIW is probably higher for the Audi, just because of model recognition. But that could change if more CC's end up on the road.

You can also get into a CC for dirt cheap. Add a few mods, and the car will be sexy as hell!

Just a few thoughts, but you can't go wrong with either in my book......

On paper anyways. Actual from factory has proven to be closer to the 225 HP area. But for the sake of the argument, 211 HP it is.

If the CC's engine is similar to the B7's, than the differences are many. From what I understand, the B8's 2.0T is chain-driven (ie no replacing timing belts later on), has valve-lift, has an easier-accessible oil filter, etc. Not to mention, gobs more torque.

That being said, I was thoroughly impressed by the CC when I first saw it. The one that I had a chance to inspect had a cream/black interior color combo that was really nice, and the interior was comfortable (my main gripe was the lack of a middle rear seat). I also like the shape of the roofline. The design of the front-end seems to share some queues from the B8 (the fog-covers and some of the hood lines come to mind). I think it looks better than most of the new cars on the street right now. I assume Wolfsburg and Ingolstadt share a design team?

What aspects of a car are the most important to you?

Well they both look pretty sexy dropped on coils and new wheels :)

    Quattro 2.0T beats 4-motion and a V6 IMO though.

I test drove the CC before going with the A4. I have never thought of stepping into a VW showroom before the CC.. drove the 2.0 CC they did not have one V6 to test drive... the interior of the Cc is stunning.. especially in the 2 tone color combo.. the sunroof does not open(bizzare)

lease deals were amazing compared to the Audi...but in the end I went with the Audi it just had the intangeables i wanted

My father purchased a CC last summer. We both looked at everything and test drove a lot of cars out there. It is IMHO the best value you can get for the money bar none. He ended up ordering a white Sportline 2.0 with auto trans. and roof with two tones interior. This summer, we plan on putting a set of 18" on it...

I drove the car a couple times on 1200 miles round trips… I can tell you it's an awesome performer. Very economical, very smooth powerplant, awesome transmission, it’s like a cat in the curves and it simply has the best direction and steering fell you can get in that price range. The lines on that car are very sexy and from every angle… It’s a really good looking car, particularly in white…

Long story short, if this is how far your budget can carry you; you’ll be a very happy camper with this car… If you can afford a B8, you’ll get all that + bonus power and the usual refinements found in a luxury brand. Oh, and AWD!!

By the way, I have a white B8 with, xenon/led headlights, manual trans. and sport package on order right now… ;) I also have a set of 18” S5 wheels coming for it !

    Cheers…

How's the NVH on the CC's 2.0T? Apparently that was a complaint on earlier VW 1.8s/2.0s

    Sorry for the necro bump...

I have owned 3 B7's. One A4 and two S4's but I'm on the fence for a new(used) good commuter car and can't decide between the two. Do I stick with the audi family, pay a little extra or go to the little brother?

Can anyone tell me which cabin is bigger between the two? Any insight of ownership on either would be great.

I owned a CC, which we traded for my wife's MB. A few thoughts.

A generally comfortable and fun car though the low roofline got to be a nuisance after a while. Decent room, fit and finish was on par with the A4 if not, dare I say, slightly nicer (we had the two-tone interior). Engine in the A4 is quickewayang only way to get Quattro in the CC - if important to you, is to get the V6. 8 speed transmission in the A4 was better than the DSG in the CC.

Have both a B8 A4 Avant and a 2008 (B6) Passat 3.6 VR6 4motion (AWD). I also considered the CC before getting the Passat because I really liked the styling, but found the low roofline to be too impractical in getting my two kids in the back seat.

    2010 a4 vs. 2010 vw cc ?

Came from a CC before my allroad. Loved how the CC looked and during the time i
had it was less common than the A4. It all comes down to what matters. Even though the CC is the lower Volkswagen I think that the interior was very nice for a car at that price point. Also a 2010 CC with Nav would already come with bluetooth streaming something that didn't hit the A4's till MY13. I sold mine because I was starting a family, the sloped rear roof line made it a pain to put car seats in and out and I found the perfect excuse to upgrade to the allroad.

Only pic of my CC I can find right now

    Hi Andrew,

Aren't you like 6-2" or taller and have a growing family? The CC is based off the Passat's B6 platform, which is larger, interior wise that is, than a B8 A4/S4, which in turn is slightly larger than a B7's. But you have to consider that lowered roofline on the CC. Since you had several B7's, I would think you'd be fine and you could just put that seat all the way down and back as long as there is enough room so that it won't be squeezing your kids legs or the base of the child seat in back. Just be sure to check one out for size and see what you think. Also, consider what I mentioned earlier about getting a child in the rear seat, ducking your head and bending your back every time could get old real quick.

The low roofline, as I previously mentioned, got old very quick -- and we didn't even have to contend with child seats.

I stand corrected. Man you're tall!

Back to the OP's topic...If you're considering a used A4, I would at least get the mid-line "premium plus" which is the option package just above premium and definitely get quattro (awd).

I just love that VW's and A3's/TT's use transverse 2.0T's so they easily make a lot of power with K04's.
