    Unhappy Car dent removal cost?

    I totally messed it up.
I, for some reason, didn't see the car that was parked on the side and
some how hit my bottom portion of rear passenger door + little bit of rear bumper and now it has some dents. (From like 15 ft away, can't really see the dents)

I stopped by the body shop before coming to work today and got a quote for $700.
They said they have to remove the dent and re-paint the door and the bumper.
By the way, car color is black.

Is that a decent price? I'll post pics soon.....

Damn it, here goes my tax refund...

Yes that is a great price. I've had the same thing happen to me twice. Once my ex wife backed out and cornered too tight and her front qtr panel drug across my driver door doing similar damage. cost was 750 for repair/paint. then my ex wife backed into my other car with her accord and dented the driver front and rear door at the b pillar. cost was 800 for repair/paint. then i divorced my ex wife and i haven't paid anything in car repair in over 4 years. funny how that worked out. anyways, believe me, the old adage about dents on black is very true. If it's black, it better be straight, because you can see EVERYTHING when the car is cleaned and polished. 700 sounds like a great quote.

yeah i would say that's good price considering you're going to have to get it painted and you don't want to spend lightly when there's paint involved

just make sure you go to a reputable dealership who works with audis and you should be good

You really have had some good cost savings since divorcing your wife. This is just one of the few hidden extra costs of being married. Makes me wonder if this was one of your grounds for divorce when you filed for it.

Well there is going to be some labour there. The metal has a nice crease in it so they will need to pull it out sand it down then use some body filler to to correct the fender and the door. Then prime and prep the bumper and blow it all in. I don't know what body shops are like there but I know back in Ontario I would be glad to $700 for something like that.

Okay, so I stopped by another body shop and they also quoted me $700.

    But here's the difference.
One body shop says it will take 4 days since they have to dry out the paints and all.
But the other body shop says it will be done within a day. So I can drop it off in the morning and pick it up at night.
They said they have special machines that does the paint.

Where should I give my car to?

I think its a fair price .... just a reminder to make sure they do quality work .. your car is black and bad body work and paint will be easily visible. I am currently in New York and out here all I have seen is garbage ... I hope there is some good shops in NJ.
