I don't believe there is anything like that avalable, but you would want a Torsen diff anyway.

I think stasis does make a limited slip rear diff but it's something like $1500.

Not necessarily.. Sports car (SCCA) did a comparison some years ago. Depends on the use. For the rear diff, a clutch pack diff is nice for full on race conditions....

I thought there was a different biased center diff tho? That would make a big difference and reduce the understeer.

Stasis doesn't sell rear diffs anymore I tried to purchase one this summer. I was told that the company that was making them for stasis went under.

Thanks for that, I did not think of full race, I was assuming race/street mixed use.

    Re: Posi/Limited Slip

Diff type totally depends on vehicle, setup and use. To make a blanket statement that one is better than the other is a tad foolish...

Having used a variety, I personally prefer a helical (torsen) diff. It just works....that and the science behind it is quite awesome.

Yeah, from what I heard, Stasis wasn't selling the rear diffs anymore.

    Re: Posi/Limited Slip

I would love to know if the Sport Diff now available as an option on the B8 S4 and S5 can retrofit onto our cars. It's supposed to be a 100% mechanical piece, so we wouldn't have to worry about any electronics or software.

but if we swap it over, does that mean we have to disable EDL? isn't that tied into our ABS, ESP and other systems?

If you're only trying to improve traction in a straight line, then a Torsen rear diff will probably work okay. However, if you're trying to improve traction out of corners, then you're much better off using a clutch-pack LSD instead, as the Torsen behaves exactly like an open diff when one wheel is in the air and I haven't yet seen a B6 A4 that doesn't lift its inside rear wheel under hard cornering...

Stasis was originally selling slightly tweaked Porsche 944 LSDs made by Guard Transmission then switched to an overseas supplier. I have no idea whether they are or are not still selling these LSDs, but I know firsthand that a 944 LSD will fit inside a B5 rear diff housing with only minor modifications because I installed one in my B5 A4 1.8. I haven't opened my B6 A4 rear diff case yet to verify this, but as I believe Stasis used the same diff in both B5 and B6 apps, you should be able to use at least Guard's 944 diff and most likely the OEM one as well and live happily ever after...
