    LED Tail Lights (Resistors/Load Balancers)

Okay, so I have searched through the forums and I haven't got any firm answers. I had bought a pair of LED tail lights which i'm sure you've all seen or atleast read about and I've always heard about installing resistors, but what exactly are they, where do you buy them, what's a website to buy them from, any resistors will work? I searched throughout the site and through google yet there are no answers for "Resistors for Dummies" like myself. I did come across a website, here http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...rake-turn.html but there are 2 different resistors, which one do we need and are these the correct ones? I know a few others are having the same problem but all threads seem to end with the same question with no answers. I would really appreciate if someone could help me and those who would like to know the information as well. The "burnt out bulb" warning is driving me insane!

The LED tail lights are these: (Image was found on Google)

Re: LED Tail Lights (Resistors/Load Balancers)

You are going to want the taillight resistor kit, that should fix the bulb out messages.

I'm using the Tail light resistor kit from SuperBrightLEDS for my LED taillights in my B5 and it fixed that problem. Easy to install, you just need to find a place to mount the resistor (but remember the resistors will get hot so make sure it isn't touching anything flammable)

Ahhh finally i'll be able to get this done!!! The write up is great. Seeing that I'm lazy as hell, I'm going to buy the 25w from SuperBrightLED and follow the directions of the write up. I appreciate the help guys! Let's just hope I'm smart enough to pull this off...ha

Probably not.........considering you need to 5 Watt 60 ohm resistors and not the 25 Watt 25 ohm resistors

Just make sure you order the right ones

Do you mean the 6 Ohm, 50 Watt?

I went with the 10 watt 100ohm resistors. No problem for the two months ive had them in. i went with LEDs in the reverse lights too and had to use the same size resistors.

bringing this back from dead sorry but I had some questions about resistors.
We just installed 25w 6ohm into CREE LED back up lights on a B8 car which did not throw any codes but resistors got extremely hot. I wanted to see if anyone knew answer to this question. If I was to run smaller wattage like 10w how big my ohms would have to be? My CREE bulbs are 3w.

Can i use 10w100ohms just like you guys used on your taillights?
