Hmmm I don't remember 100%, I do remember being around 6-7K range when I let off in 6th.

I had plenty of room but I only at 153mph (GPS). I took a quick pic of it on my BB - I used a Garmin NUVI Navi with the speed mode screen.

i had my old Lex 400 in the desert going to Havasu doing 125, every little bump is magnified so much.

It was extremely smooth, hardly felt like I was going that fast.

Was it on a track - where do you find enough stretch of highwa y to reach that speed?

I've been up to around 150 on a bike, but that's amazing in a car.

When I was on the Autobahn, I had the rental maxed out around 145... maybe I needed to find a more remote stretch. Didn't hurt that the BMW and Audi's that I rented were not V8's.

Even the S4 felt really smooth and almost anti-climatic at 155mph. Everything felt airtight, nothing was shaking or wobbling... just felt like the car was made to go that fast and still ample room left.

When you have family that lives deep in the plains state of South Dakota, you can not only see for miles and miles ahead of the perfectly arrow straight highway, but you can also be hard pressed to pass a car every 5-10 minutes of driving. As a result, the roads are not traveled frequently and are quite smooth.

i've hit 155, 157, 160, 165 and 166mph in the S, and in no way have i ever felt i'm in a deathtrap. i'd call the lambo a deathtrap, rather, solely because the of Titanic-type mentality that the drivers seem to posses when operating them.

Correct, any speed on a straightaway is no problem but throw in some waves at 165 and drc does not inspire confidence. Cant wait for april for Stasis ms to go on.

It always feels like it can go faster. Until you actually try and find out that those extra thousand RPMs do virtually nothing. Like I said earlier, wind-resistance gets to be a bitch. The amount of force put against the car by wind-resistance is non-linear and starts to get obnoxious the closer and closer you get to 200. Here's a really good page with formulas and charts about it.

Few road cars actually break 200 and extremely few go a substantial amount faster than 200. Environmentals (head wind vs. tail wind, etc.) are obviously a factor as well. And also, if you're relying on your speedo for a read-out, you're getting an inaccurate overstated number. All Audi's read faster by some amount on the analog speedo.
