Run flat tyre? good or bad idea

    Hi guys

When i bought my A4 from the dealer it came with standard Bridgestone tyres but recently i ve changed them to Bridgestone runflats all round. Now the steering seems heavier like if the tyres are underflatted. Size of tyres has nt changed all i ve done is gone from standard to runflat. Shall i just go back to standard tyres to solve the problem .Any ideas lads

change it back , run flat tires are bad news. If you get a flat you will most likely damage the wheels as well which will be pretty expensive.

pretty much every BMW(use run flats) lease return I see , work at an Audi dealership, needs new wheels and tires.

Had them on my last BMW and never again! the worst tire ride and comfort on the market! Needless to say if you get a simple nail in the tire, the tire is shot no fix available and u have to buy a whole new one. Also sidewalls are prone to bubbles. Went threw 3 sets on my 07 BMW coupe + 3 separate warranty claims where they replaced the tires!!

run flat ... -1 , noisier and cost to much for what they are, and not so good grip.

it does go both ways, the driver feel for RFT's isn't as good as regular tires, but you don't need to worry so much about...well, getting a flat. It's really personal preference regarding which direction you want to go in.

but you also have to worry about getting replacement runflats if say you're travelling and get a flat in a small town, then you have no spare and no place to get a runflat tire. I much always rather have a spare tire.

I've never had run-flats, but everything I've read makes it clear that the only advantage they have is in allowing you to drive with a tire puncture (and the weight savings from not having a spare). In every other way they are inferior to standard tires (cost, performance, road feel, noise, wear, etc). I don't get enough flats to even consider their one advantage as important.
