    2-Piece Wheel Nuts/Bolts Reusable?

My summer wheels/tires are sittin' in the garage at the moment and I plan to have them powder coated. They are iForged Aero 2 piece rims and I was wondering if I can re-use the nuts and bolts that hold the assembly together. Some people I've talked to say no way and that it's dangerous while others say it's fine as long as the threads aren't stripped. Who's right and who's wrong?!

    my $.02:

When I worked with competition associates for the Koni Challenge race last year we were running 3-piece Fikse wheels on our GS Mustang, and we re-used the nuts/bolts every time on all eight wheels. I don't see how it could be dangerous, they're not like head studs that stretch once then are useless.

That's great news. If the wheel bolts/nuts held up for you after multiple races then I'm sure they'll be fine on my daily driver. If I had to replace every single nut and bolt the bill would've come out to around $320 for all 4 wheels.

Glad to help, just make sure you tighten them in the proper star pattern. That was always a bitch when we had to reassemble our wheels.

What do you torque them to? 22-24ish ft. lbs? Do you use any loctite?

I don't remember the exact specs we used, but 24 sounds about right, we used blue loctite on them, as well as lock nuts.
