    01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238)

I've cleared the code on this one several times and had a mechanic look at it. He says it needs to be replaced but quoted me $115 just for the part...

It only controls automatic recirculation so it's not worth that much to me. Does anyone have a spare one of these laying around or is anyone parting a B6 out that could sell me this sensor? It's supposed to be mounted in front of the CAF.

PM me or reply here and we'll work something out.

I don't believe it's possible to clean the sensor so it has to be swapped out.

    TIA

I had that once, got the dealer to replace it under warranty while I was doing other repairs, but honestly:

    1. I did not notice any differences with or without it.
    2. Its not worth $115 at all nor the time to replace it.
    3. It does not trigger any CELs
For your OEM HID D1S/D2S/D3S and HID conversion [Headlights/Foglights], and Interior/Exterior LED needs, send me a PM.

Did a lot of searching on this and was hoping someone could post some info and verify the function of these sensors. Decided to reuse an old thread.

Air Purity Sensor From what i gathered the Air Purity/Quality sensor is located in the plenum chamber somewhere used mainly on the auto recirculate function (which audi recommends to use constantly). Does anyone have a pic of this sensor and where its located? I believe on 2003 and up it was removed. Mine is faulty, not a big importance to fix just wanted to know its function.

Cabin Air temperature Located inside the Climate control module. Can only be replaced if you replace the entire climate control. What does this sensor do? Is it mainly to keep the cabin temperature at a constant level? Is it also used with the two other sensors located inside the driver and passenger side dash air vents? Is this only used when the climate control is set to auto?

    TIA

I have the Air Purity Sensor in my 2002. It hasn't worked in years.

It is supposed to detect when the air being drawn in is too dirty to breathe and automatically recirculate the air.
I used to think it ionizes the air somehow but when I looked at that tiny thing last month there is no way.
I would try and use MAF spray cleaner to try and bring it back to life but there is no CEL. I'm not worried.
It only shows up for me when I do a VAG-COM scan.

Not sure about what u mean with the Cabin Air Tem Sensor. That would seem straight forward to my mind. Measure and compare temps for the split-temp climate control system. It has to do that somehow... Maybe I'm missing something in ur question.

Very old thread but it sucks when there's no answer for the location of this part. Took me a good 20 minutes of searching and a scan through the Bentley manual to find it. The air quality sensor is located on the cabin filter box. It goes underneath the little tab there and slides up into place.
