Making Auxiliary input (audio) jack work in car with Audi Interface only ?

I bought the 2010 Audi A4. it came with the Audi music interface in the dashboard. No separate audio jack input!

Problem is, I dont carry my ipod around much in my car. I used to have all my mp3 songs in my phone (palm pre) and preferred that in my previous vehicle since I have it mounted on my touchstone dock in my car, right next to the stickshift.

The issue Im having is this : Is there anyway of having some kind of workaround (maybe an adapter or something) that will allow me to plug in my palm pre's auxiliary output (u know, the small audio jack) into my car's audio system so i can access my phone's mp3 library ?

The music interface came with an SD card input, but i dont use it much, since the limit is only 4 gb (as opposed to an SDHC card) which can go upto 32 mb or higher and so have access to a lot more songs.

don't the 2010's support SDHC? I know its been covered so many times I forget what the last conclusion was

Not too sure about aux input...check the glovebox somewhere, maybe where AMI would have been? (top left of your glovebox)

i use an 8gb SD card on my b8 so i dont think the limit would be 4gb

There is an Audi bluetooth adapter that plugs into the MMI interface. You can connect any BT enabled music device to that adapter and play music that way through.

iamaudi.com has an article about it somewhere.

Check with the parts dept at your local Audi dealer. There are a number of adapters that you can use with the port located in the glovebox where your iPod adapter currently is plugged in.

SD is supported up to 32GB. I've got 16gb class 6 working just fine.

Bottom line:

If you have AMI: there is no separate aux-in jack - you need to buy an adapter that plugs into the ami

If you don't have AMI: there is an aux in jack in the center compartment under the armrest.

You can't get both...

2010 cars (and some 2009's manufactured past a certain date) support SDHC - all others only support SD...

lol to make it easy...if you have AMI, it replaced your aux input. but you can buy aux cables for your AMI.

hoping to use it for AUX in, but for some reasons when I go to the "source" in my sound options both AMI input and AUX input are disabled :/ ANy ideas what could be wrong or if I have to enable something else for it to work?

I know this is a silly question, but does your car have AMI? If so, under source it does show your 'iPod' when connected, right?

yup you need that cable and it should work fine, works for my Droid no problem

you've got the wrong cable.
4F0051510K is what you need for 2010-2011 AMI.

You could use your Droid without having to fool around with cables every day,

Hi guys. I'm new here in this forum. I have a audi a4 s line 2010 with audi concert stereo. I don't have a ami port in my car. does anyone here know how can I put an ami port in my car.so I can listen to my iPhone or ipod music through the cars stereo. and also I do have an aux port inside the hand rest area which doesn't gives a good sound quality. is there any way I can change or replace the aux port. please help. thank you

type audi bluetooth adapter on search bar.
you have the choice of bovee and tune2air. best of luck

Hi, i just bought the aux cable for the ami in my audi a4 2011, i activate the aux input in the vagcom, but there is no sound when i plug in my cellphone. Anyone knows how to make it work? The car came out of factory with the ipod interface installed, so i have to use the vagcom to activate the aux input.

Hi, I just bought the same cable, and my car have the aux input disabled too, you have to activate it from the vagcom, i just did it, but it didnt work properly. Did you solve it?
