Why in gods name go through all that? Just find someone in your area with a Vag or even a good Solus scanner and you can check each coilpack. Way less labor involved. Just my 2 cents!

Re: 3.0 Coil pack test numbers.

What is the purpose of testing them? The coils are a minor pain to pull off on the 3.0, if your car is running smoothly and you have no CEL there isn't much of a point in doing this.

Go to autozone and have them scan the car. Or find someone with VAG COM

this how you see which ones work, turn car on pull each coil 1 by 1 to see if engine sound changes. if it changes, its not the one. if it doesnt then thats the one not working.

Re: 3.0 Coil pack test numbers.

Checking the codes will tell you which ones are bad because the computer stores which cylinder had misfires. Replace the coils in those positions and you're good.

You know there is a recall out for this issue and you cna just get it fixed at your local dealer, right? Or just buy yourself a complete new set and sent the bill to AoA. Throw out the known bad one(s) and keep the rest as spares in case you get into trouble again.

dont let the engine run when you have bad coilpack for too long. the unburned fuel will destroy your car which is a costly pair if your above 90k miles.

    Bummer.

Still, you cna find out which one is bad by checking the codes. it'll tell you which cylinder is misfiring.

Ok scratch what i said before i called A.O.A. instead of the dealership this time and they said as long as i buy Coil packs that are approved by Audi they will reimburse me.

So now the question is which ones are approved by Audi?

Those are for the 1.8T. They won't work on the 3.0. The correct part number for the 3.0 coils is 06C905115M. It replaced the L's. We just got a bunch in this morning (http://www.europaparts.com/ignition-...6c905115m.html)

Re: 3.0 Coil pack test numbers.

    Two more questions.

Does a dealer or mechanic have to change the coil packs to be reimbursed?

I changed all my plugs, And tried to crank it with the bad coil packs. Did this foul my new plugs?

To answer your question probably not, unless you actually have a strong gas smell. As far as the recall goes I wouldn't know. I would say the dealer has to do it in order to be a recall work...

^no, others are getting reimbursed after purchasing their CPs and replacing them themselves. OP, did you ever get the recall letter from Audi? It tells you in there how/where to send in the receipts and the reimbursement form.
