Sound when opening door?

Hey guys, everytime I open my door on my 2010 A4 it makes this sound, you know the sound when you're adjusting your seat??? I'm so confused because I have no idea what it is. However, I always hear it when I open my door to get in. Does anyone have any idea what that noise is?? Are my seats adjusting?

almost positive it is the fuel pump getting the car ready. it sounds like a whoosh, correct? there was a post on this not too long ago and i believe that was the final verdict.

well, it isn't exactly a whoosh, it's almost the exact sound you hear when we move our seats up or down with the buttons. Hmm....very perplexing -.- well for me at least. hahaha

If you have your seat memory synced with the keys, and somebody adjusted the seats prior to you, when you open the door, the seat will reset itself to whatever is in the key.


Mine makes more noise after my dad drives the car...with his settings. The HPFP is that whirr noise from under the car. The clickety clack buzzing is from the seat.

i only have the PP model, so no memory seats -.-

hm...interesting. Then it's probly just the pump. They do make clicking noises too. Just less pronounced than seat clicks.

I hear a sound too when opening one of the doors and I don't have powered seats. It's an electronic sound almost like when applying the electronic parking brake.

Is this the sound you're hearing too?

i know the sound you're thinking of, and yep i believe its the pump or whatever.

it is the fuel pump priming the car for ignition and is perfectly normal. notice that it only makes that sound when you open the driver's door.

it sounds a little chain driven. All normal. There was a thread about this last year.

ah ok, thanks for all the responses, btw, it also makes the sound after I shut the car off i believe~

Yep Fuel Pump, it also only does it when you open the driver's door I noticed, not the other doors (on my S4 at least).

it hasn't been mentioned before, but i think it's the fuel pump...
maybe someone can chime in and confirm.
