For those who have sat in an A6/A8/Q7 you will know that most come with the interior ambient lighting package. This is where the footwells and in some cases a light bar along the door trim stay illuminated at night.
The A8 has the most features where you can set what mood you are wanting i.e. Rear Only, Highway, All etc.
A6/Q7 simply have On/Off and an adjuster for how intense you want it.
I personally think it's a great feature and I think I have found it in the Hidden Menu (HM).
My car is a 2010 with 3G navigation. I entered the HM, went to Car, and then to device (perhaps cardevice) There you will see that Exterior Lighting is checked off but not Interior. Check Interior Lighting then go to the last menu in the Car menu, again within HM, and up the value for Interior Lighting to 5. So far it's the only one that seems to work.
Restart your MMI and there ya go, you now have Interior Ambient Lighting in the Car menu of MMI. Only problem is that it's grey out!

I did some searching and it seems older A6s that didn't have this feature only needed an upgraded relay, a recode with VCDS in 07 Control Head. I tried going there but it's blocked. I also searched any area that seemed logical but couldn't find anything to activate it.
Perhaps this is just hard-coded into the 3G as it's also used with the A6 but I'm hoping someone smarter than me can figure out the rest.
It would be a nice upscale freebie for what is already a great car.
I can go to the car and get more info if needed.
Thank you in advance,
P
