Interior Ambient Lighting ala A6/A8 - found it in Hidden Menu

    Hello everyone,

For those who have sat in an A6/A8/Q7 you will know that most come with the interior ambient lighting package. This is where the footwells and in some cases a light bar along the door trim stay illuminated at night.

The A8 has the most features where you can set what mood you are wanting i.e. Rear Only, Highway, All etc.

A6/Q7 simply have On/Off and an adjuster for how intense you want it.

I personally think it's a great feature and I think I have found it in the Hidden Menu (HM).

My car is a 2010 with 3G navigation. I entered the HM, went to Car, and then to device (perhaps cardevice) There you will see that Exterior Lighting is checked off but not Interior. Check Interior Lighting then go to the last menu in the Car menu, again within HM, and up the value for Interior Lighting to 5. So far it's the only one that seems to work.

Restart your MMI and there ya go, you now have Interior Ambient Lighting in the Car menu of MMI. Only problem is that it's grey out!

I did some searching and it seems older A6s that didn't have this feature only needed an upgraded relay, a recode with VCDS in 07 Control Head. I tried going there but it's blocked. I also searched any area that seemed logical but couldn't find anything to activate it.

Perhaps this is just hard-coded into the 3G as it's also used with the A6 but I'm hoping someone smarter than me can figure out the rest.

It would be a nice upscale freebie for what is already a great car.

I can go to the car and get more info if needed.

    Thank you in advance,

    P

Perhaps this is the software part of where they turn on the "Light Pack" but I have this already as I added it as an option (only £100). Without it there's no glove box light, puddles lights etc etc

Do you guys have these features by default? Do you have the two red LEDs in the overhead controls that cast a nice red glow over the gear shift? Illuminated door handles etc ?

I'm sure this is the case in the US but AFAIK all Canadian A4s have this optional light package you are speaking of.

LED footwell lights, door curb lights, interior door handles, glove box.

My feeling is that there is something to be turned on in 07-Head Control via VCDS but as I stated before it's not accessible in the A4, at least not in mine.

I have all of these lights but they don't stay on at night...are you saying i can ahve them on at night even while driving? now they only turn on when the door opens... I think that'd be cool.

scotty: yes we have the LED in the overhead controls. no door handles though...

(This may require the "real" MMI 2G, it may not work on a Concert/Symphony radio and MMI 3G hidden menu is enabled differently, see below. See here for more on the "real" MMI vs. radios: http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a4a5realmmi.html) ... you can access this hidden menu by holding down CAR and SETUP for five/six seconds. There are whole host of settings you can access here, like adjusting MMI timings, visible options - apparently you can even adjust the TV blackout speed or remove it. I hear you can also make CAR menu selections appear without speed limit. WARNING! According to reports don't select "Bootloader", it will lock the system in a software update mode without a way out.
This didn't work on my non-prem / non-nav whatever the hell it is -- so I'm still trying to find a way (if possible) to do it on the non-nav...anyone have any ideas?

Re: Interior Ambient Lighting ala A6/A8 - found it in Hidden Menu

Anyone have any idea on how I can again access to Control Head 07 within VCDS? It's not reading that module and it's in there that Interior Ambient Lighting is activated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2010 A4 with 3G Navi.

    Thank you in advance,

Re: Interior Ambient Lighting ala A6/A8 - found it in Hidden Menu

when i was searching on how to enable VIM (video in motion) i came across several people that cracked the passwords for the secure modules but i didnt save the websites as most of them were russian and they wanted payment in the 200-500 euro range(you can prob find them easily with google), try this password generator maybe it will work http://trick77.com/tools/mmi3g_vimcode.php its for control module 5F, but maybe if you enter the serial from the other module it will work... good luck

I'm gonna take a wild stab that this is impossible on 09 without Nav?

So... how does this apply to the MMI 2G in a 2006 Q7?
I have enabled ambient lighting from the green hidden menu and I get the option on the CAR > Systems menu. It is not greyed out but it won't save any setting. In other words, it's stuck in 0 (zero), and if I select another value, it always returns to zero when I re-access this option!

    Also, I cannot access [09 – Cent. Elect.] > [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 16 Bit 6 (Set this bit manually to “1” - (1 = active))
I have no "Long Coding" option on 09 > 07.
(Is it because I'm using VCDS 12.12?)

    Any ideas here?
