NW burb of chicago: where to get hand car wash

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I wasted 8 dollar on automatic touchless carwash which pretty much did nothing to wash off the salt stain. And I'm not about to wash it myself in 10 degree weather.

Is there a place that would hand wash my car without fvcking up my paint?
    Preferably near Schaumburg/Platine area.

    Thanks.

theres a place on the corner of roselle and golf. But you have to drive on the rails.
So if your lowered or have wheels, i prolly wouldn't go there.
There is also a place down roselle near the elgin ohare with next to the gas station.

Right behind the Citgo gas station.
I used to go there with my Audi. It's the best touchless wash I've been though.

Raceway Car Wash - there is one on Rand Rd west of Arlington Hts Rd. I went there Saturday - it's $24.95 but they bring your car into the detailing area inside and do a hand wash - hand detailed the wheels and put a little tire shine on there. They have free wi-fi as well. Took them about 45-50 minutes.

Northwest Auto Wash on Euclid in AH is OK too - they have only one rail and it's plastic coated so less chance of wheel scrapes.

Is this the one? And this place doesn't have rails, right?

InNout - Not sure if they have a "no-rail" wash system on the automatic system. Don't know how else you get the car along the way? The hand wash is done inside.

That $9.95 hand wash in LZ sounds good too!

not exactly close to you but the only one I've used
    North Shore Auto Spa
    http://www.northshoreautospa.com/
    2744 Skokie Valley Rd
    Highland Park

When I went there, they pulled my car into their garage and spend almost an hour on it. I've never had my car so clean before. Very professional and cost $25.

Thats too much for just a wash. I think a normal hand wash/dry should run about $12

I'm a cheapass - I go downtown to Clybourn Express, it's $8.95 inside and out, hand wash.

Trexturk - I wholeheartedly agree - but most automatic soft cloth places are now $12+ for an inside and outside wash/dry. If I can find one for a bit less I'll go but they are few and far between it seems.

Most us don't bat an eye about pouring premium gas into our tanks at prodigious rates but we beef about an extra $10-12 bucks for hand wash?

you should try simon's shine shop a couple blocks down behind the webster theater. it's a bit more expensive, but i bet the handwash is better.

You NEED to put premium gas in your car but you don't NEED to pay $10-12 for a car wash. Big difference.

    True dat.
Also I would think the main point of washing a car in winter is just to take the salt off. Im pretty sure the car would have salt all over it again a day later.

trexturk - where do you take your ride to get washed now? (since you mentioned a few places)

i saw you driving the other day taking a turn onto woodfield road from Meacham i think...car looked sweet even in winter mode..haha.

i caught a glimpse of your ride then heard that nice V8 roar past and knew it was you.

MOFSTEEL - Good point - And the way most of drive our cars we really shouldn't complain about gas consumption!

Trexturk - I hear what you're sayin but sometimes I need to get that salt off and remind myself how good that car looks when clean! Enjoy!

    thanks.

by the way - all schaumburg/hoffman people watch out for a undercover silver accord (yes accord) - iv seen it a few times. Didnt want to make a new thread - just a heads up! Seen him pulling someone over and he almost hit me one time trying to go the wrong way in a turn lane with his lights on.

its temperatures like this that make me happy that my parking garage guys let me use their indoor car wash bay and hose to hand wash my car as much as I want for free!!!! as a matter of fact this is the main reason I want to renew my lease!

Hey I live in Bartlett now, I used to live in Skokie (for 26 years)... I used to go to Lucky's... 20 bucks for a full wash and dry, interior wipe down wash rubber mats... amazing. They even shampoo carpet mats for a buck each.

Sorry this doesn't help the original post... I'm looking for one around here too. I heard there's this place in Naperville that is touchless but will run it through over and over until it comes out good and they dry it to near perfection. I'll look for name from a buddy of mine.

My apologies for bringing back this 7 year old thread... but I have the same question. A quick hand wash would be great.

You will find the typical pull-through places. Most with brushes!
For example Delta Sonic on Dundee near 53. They have cloth, no brushes which is good but have to be careful with the wheel rails.
I tried the wash works at Motorwerks in Barington. It uses a no-rail pull system which is nice. Downside is that they have brushes and use a tire shine machine which does not work for my matte wheels

I prefer a toothless with no guide rail or hand wash. Way back I used to go a Mobil station with toothless bad had a wheels guide to get into which appeared to be designed for a truck.

    Any ideas are welcome!
