I regularly rev to 7k, I believe my limiter is set at 7350
    I don't think I care anymore

Re: is my stock 2.7 good for 7000 rpm's like the s4

I think the stock rev limiter is 6800. It is on the 2.8 as well.

Programing raises it to 7100 on my 2.8. If my engine can spin that fast, the 2.7 will too.

...Rev limiters according to GIAC's literature

    6,800 Rpm (stock)
    7,200 Rpm (GIAC chip)

It would be interesting to see a dyno chart to see if the HP and torque are still climbing that high or are starting to roll off.

With KKK turbos, HP/TQ is most definitely dropping off. It is the turbos that run out of breath, not the motor

You're not making more power past 5k or so with K03's so it's purely for the increased FW momentum. Torque actually starts to fall off after 5K, and HP just kinda stays flat and begins to fall flat after 6.5. The only time I take the car to red line is first gear, past that there's no point.

As I thought. Any revs higher than the peak HP/Torque curve don't do anything for you but slow you down and increase the chance of breaking things.

Re: is my stock 2.7 good for 7000 rpm's like the s4

Like what was said, the turbos are soo small theres no need to rev that high. Power starts to fall off after about 5500, and even with K04s you wont really make power after 6500.

And when I was emailing GIAC about their programing for the 2.8, they said the engine itself runs out of breath after about 7500, so theres no point in spinning it faster, unless of course you start playing with heads.

And dont say that swmic, because depending on a cars powerband/gearing it pays to rev out more in one gear to put your self in teh sweet spot of the power curve for the next. Also can work the opposite, might be more efficient to short shift... Depends on the car.

I think an ideal shift point with these engines, turbo or N/A, is about 6-6500, no higher than that unless you have big mods.

Re: is my stock 2.7 good for 7000 rpm's like the s4

When I talked to Greg at SSP about doing drag runs after he did my K04 install I asked him where he shifts at since he has an 11 sec s4. He told me 7300 so i got my tuning programed for 7350. I'll have a dyno setup soon enough. Late March probably. This is also in race gas. When I did my 12.4 run on 93 I shifted to 7-7300 each time

I'm just curious at what the AR 2.7 drivetrain can handle on let's say an rs6 k04 or some gt's before the need to upgrade. Is going past 7500 dangerous?
