Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i am new to the 2.0T motor and i am not finding the info via search.

What is the difference between the two and how do you tell what you have?

    Thanks,

    Re: BPY vs. TFSI

FSI has a belt, TSI has a chain. that is not the only difference.

the HPFP on them is different as well as the TSI has it riding the rear cam and it holds more boost for longer, thus allowing much more power and its roller follower so its much more relibable than our flat tappet follower on the FSI.

    both are dirty.

    both break down semi-frequently...

both have numerous issues. You have to keep up on your maintence and check ur oils and change it out alot more than a normal engine.

you gotta pay to play. :-) If you can keep the beast happy, she will pull strong and pull hard.

    Re: BPY vs. TFSI

    wait....I don't get these abbreviations

From what I understand right now:

    FSI - 06+ 2.0T in north america
(In asia, golfs are sold with 1.4FSI, 1.6FSI that has no turbos, & its just a plain direct injection engine)

TFSI - 08.5+ 2.0T (You guys call it TSI? isn't this the name for that 1.4 twincharger engine in europe?)

Can anyone clear this up for me :S

bpy is an engine code just like aeb, or awm, or ccta,

bpy is a turbocharged 4 cyl with fsi (fuel stratification injection)/direct petrol injection

other engines have fsi including the 4.2, 3.6, and 3.2, but these engines are only fsi, not tfsi (turbo). the "tsi" ccta is just the second gen version of the original 2.0tfsi. it has a slight bump in hp, a canister oil filter that is inverted and mounted at the top, and most notably, AVS which is audi valvelift system. it activates a high lift cam lobe at higher rpm, in addition to adjusting the cam lobe positions to alter the opening and closing of the valves. similar to vtec on hondas, but it is actuated by solenoids rather than oil pressure.
