Any thoughts on B8 S4 wheels on A4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello AZ,
As my A4 came with 17 inch wheels, I'm planning to put 18" or 19" wheels.
However, since the road condition in NJ is not very great for 19" wheels, I am leaning towards to 18".
Anyways, what do you guys think about these S4 replica wheels? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-AU...Q5fAccessories

I think that aftermarket (such as VMR) wheels would look great if I go for 19" but not 18" wheels would look better when they are stock replica wheels.
Thus, I'm thinking about these wheels.

I think some of you may say "you get what you pay for" but has anyone had an experience with this seller?

    Thanks

If it was me I would just do the VMR wheels or wait for an OEM set to show up in the classifieds. Good luck

Re: Any thoughts on B8 S4 wheels on A4?

Normally I'd say to be wary of the quality of such wheels but $489 for four 18" S4 reps that supposedly exceed TUV standards is very nice.

    Unfortunately, I don't have any first-hand experience w/ those wheels so I can't comment.

    489 is almost free.

bad offset though...too bad they're not a hair more aggressive.

Agreed! 18x8 ET45 is far from ideal in my book.

VMR reps seem to be well made, and the deals from PYSpeed make it an attractive alternative. My winter wheels are on the way.

At $489/set, there's plenty of money left for spacers. 10mm spacers would be ideal but from what I understand, H&R only makes 15mm and 5mm

Does anyone know what stock 17inch wheel's offset is?
VMR's look good but not sure if they would still look good in 18" though...

Check the Classifieds. A set just sold. Probably a better option to pay a little more for OEM.

if you run 235 tires, 15mm front, 20mm back will work just fine on 18x8 et45s.

Nice, I did not know that. There is a 1.21% (less than the recommended 3%) difference in diameter compared to 245s, so they're within spec.

Don't downgrade width of wheel, you sacrifice the sporty look of the car. If I was following an audi and saw some thin ass wheels on it, I would simply shake my head side to side.
Spend a few extra bucks for some VMR's

is the difference between 235 and 245 even noticeable ?

Nope , you have to look very hard and only trained eye can tell without looking on sidewall. You should be fine with 235 no need to put extra wide tires it's just waste of money imho.

Nothing wrong with 18x8, et45. Wrapped in 245/40-18's, this is the stock/oem sport package specs. Ok, it's not super-aggressive, but it's not super tucked-in either. YMMV.

Agreed, plus sport pkg wheels w/ 5mm spacers actually looks pretty good IMHO.

just take a look at my car!
I'm running 245/40/18 with high performance all season tires. Looks like a very stock set up, I agree with someone above who suggested a 5mm spacer to really make it flush with the fenders, I plan on doing that after the winter.

Check the other forums. I've seen positive reviews on fortitude as well as BMW and MB boards.

Another possibility is OEM refinished wheels. I am also considering this.

    http://www.finishlinewheels.com/AUDI/A5/2009/

Lots of OEM options for around $200 or so a wheel.

I haven't decided yet.... GL with ur decision.

Like someone said, wait for a set of used OEM's in the classifieds, there will be tons as time goes on.

We swapped a set from our race car to a A4 yesterday and they look great.

I don't know if it will entail a modification or it's just a typo. The CB on those wheels is 66.4, the CB on a B8 is 66.6...just pointing that out.

    That's good catch.
I should confirm the fitment with the vendor.

I got them from a place in California called IRG wheels. I paid a quite a bit more than the ones you linked to above.. the bore is indeed 66.6 so far 100% happy with them, and yes I am getting a drop soon, I am only going with the S4 springs though, tough to drive like the guys on the west coast when you have to drive through 22" of snow

S4 springs? well, engine on S4 is heavier, so you might wanna consider getting sport springs instead.
I'm here in NJ where it is not too far from where you are, so I know what it is like driving on snow and paved road.

hmmm? I was told by multiple people that the springs for the S-Line, sports package, and S4 are all the same.
