I checked the cap and it says to use Mineral Hydraulic fluid, so I picked up some Pentosin CHF 7.1. Is that the right fluid?

    Re: Power Steering Fluid

The CHF 7.1 is natural oil. The CHF 11s is synthetic. They can be mixed with no adverse reactions. I prefer the synthetic. Although either is "correct"

Sit Down, take a look at it, take it apart, and FIX it!

^^^ I thought that mixing the 2 was not a good idea, and if the car requires mineral hydraulic than only use that.

From the Blauparts website "All 1990 - on Audi models have come filled from the factory with the synthetic CHF 11S Audi hydraulic fluid (G002000)." They do state that they have NOT seen any compatibility issues from mixing the two different fluids. http://www.blauparts.com/audi/audi_f...rsteeringfluid
CHF-11S was also the same listing for my 2002 from my local NAPA store (the only place I could find genuine Petosin products on a Sunday!).
