Anyone else install this way, and can offer any guidance? I'm about to install some KW V3 in a week or 2 in my B7.

    Re: Rear Coilover Install

some CO setups (like KWs)are designed to be installed with the rear spring perch above the spring - others are not.

I wouldn't install one as pictured in the OP because that perch is made to be installed against the lower frame, not the rubber bushing. There's no guarantee that it's sufficiently stable to not pop out.

I think someone over at Stasis mentioned about suspension float causing the circumstances to allow the spring to pop out...

    Re: Rear Coilover Install

thats how my KW Variant 3's are.

i wouldn't worry about the spring popping out, but when you jack up your car, make sure the springs are in the correct locations.

How do you like the Bilstein PSS9's?? Happen to know the lowest/highest they go??
I have H&R Coilovers but think they are too low... and might want to switch it up a bit.

    Re: Rear Coilover Install

In the end I wound up installing my STaSIS streetsports that way.

Oonly problem is you still have to loosen the subframe to adjust them. too much spring pressure on the perch and the tool doesn't fit the perch properly. good news is you only have to loosen the subframe about three turns per bolt and then you can easily turn the spring perch to set ride height. Before that I would just pull the whole spring out since I'm adjusting my coil-overs when the car is on a lift (faster to remove spring and adjust the perch by hand than to fiddle with the tool in the control arm).

    Re: Rear Coilover Install

wouldn't loosening your subframe tweak your alignment?

nevermind, after adjusting your height you should get an alignment anyways.
