1-2 liters. you really can start to SEARCH before posting your threads. i just saw two in 10 seconds that have been covered many times before.

oh and not to mention theyre both about brakes, so why not just make 1 post about both things if youre going to post at all?

to answer your other thread, you need a tool you can rent at autozone to turn the rear caliper pistons back into the caliper.

yes the flashing brake light means you need to add some fluid. You should change the fluid if it is old with some Pentosin CHF, and yea you should flush it for sure if your going to put Dot5 in. Any reason you need Dot 5 race in the car now though?

I'm just saying why he would want to put Dot5 in....you usually have to change Dot5 more often

^i dont believe DOT4 nad DOT5 are compatable. DOT4 and DOT3 are, though i would still stick with DOT4 if you can get your hands on it.

+1, dot 5 is silicone based, if you mix it with dot 3/4 which is glycol based, it will damage the seals and cause brake failure. Dot 5 is also incompatible with ABS systems.

Re: How much brake fluid do I need for a full flush?

1.5-2 liters is what i've used.

dot 5 race fluid, DO NOT mix.

And if that DOT 5 is close to a year old, flush it, don't add. Its probably absorbed lots of water by now.

I'm also assuming that you really mean DOT 5.1???

Pentosin CHF is not for your brakes, its for the power steering. and if some of you are saying but its a good hydraulic fluid, well, then i say the temps are not good enough. it will boil over at just under 300F. not nearly good enough for brakes.

I read on a different thread that lots of people seem to use motul dot 5.1. I looked it up and it says that it is non-silicone based (its glycol based, also says it is good for abs). Is it ok to use this fluid? It will mix ok, right? or should i just stick with OEM fluid?

dot 5.1 is fine to use, you won't have any issues with that
