    B6 S4 springs on a C5 A6?

i was wondering if i could use my stock 2004 s4 springs on my 2000 a6 avant? if anyone has done this let me know, i know that many of the suspension parts are very similar and i have 2 sets of s4 springs laying around the house, might as well put them to use.

I think "similar" (as opposed to "same") is the operative word here.

People wouldn't even recommend that you put them on another B6...Why the hell would you think you should put them on a C5?

because if it did work it would be a cheap way to lower my car/ provide a stiffer less grandpa like ride. you sound offended by me even thinking about it

    Re: B6 S4 springs on a C5 A6?

even if it did fit, i dought you would be happy with it. the springs are specifically developed for each car at every corner. the rear would probably sag, and bottom out on everything from the extra weight from the avant. and the front would more then likely sit higher from having less weight in the engine bay.

    so that's a no

well thank you for a response that actually has some thought and explanation behind it. I decided to order the H&R springs.

The one thing I hate about this forum (or forums in general) is the one sentence responses to questions that people are trying to gather information
about that are somewhat naive too, that are completely designed to make the person asking the question look like a complete moron. I am not butt hurt nor am I whining about this, I am just going to point out to you, if you and I were face to face I dont think you would speak to me in the same manner you do over the forum, and i dont understand why you dont show the same respect otherwise and feel you need to try and down grade my intellect.

I apologize for wasting the thread space on the forum, but I did learn something, there is a very large E-thug to informative answering individuals everywhere on this forum. Thank you to those aiming to help, i have learned alot from you already

    Re: B6 S4 springs on a C5 A6?

It is possible that they would work, but it is very unlikely. Unfortunately it would take you having the springs next to each other and disassembling things to figure it out. I wouldn't recommend it because you would probably have some interesting wheel gap issues, not to mention shocks potentially going out sooner.

Don't mind stampy, he is douchey at times.

    Re: B6 S4 springs on a C5 A6?

    B6 S4 weight = 3825
    C5 Avant = 3947

Overall Vehicle dimensions are completely different. This has a effect on how the weight is thrown around. Ride quality would be horrible. The spring rates are not only for a different model altogether, but an S model. This cements the fact that they are stiffer by nature, and tailored for the S driving experience. I mean I can go on and on.

For a visual of how swapping components between chassis can be a bad idea. Here is what the C5 suspension looks like on a B5...

I didn't even think what I said was that harsh. Yes, I would in fact say the same exact thing to you face to face. Pointing out the obvious can be taken as calling someone "a complete moron" I guess.

well than explain to me what is so funny about what you said or how you said it? my lack of understanding how the c5 suspension works or thweight ratios of the avant vs a different model or series of vehicle? i have to say i am sitting here laughing my ass off. im done with argueing with people, i apologized for asking a question that i wanted better understanding, but now it seems i have commited some unholy crime by saying someone was being an e-thug, well here you go I take it back. While the front will physically fit. There's no way the rears will.. Completely different designs.

The joke was that even B6 owners think the stock S4 springs are crappy. It had nothing to do about the fitting a C5 question.
