    A4 Avant weight distribution?

    I've seen specs for the sedan, but what is the weight distribution for the Avant, I imagine it's slightly different.

    Also, I know that XDrive puts more weight in the front on BMWs. Does Quattro also shift the weight distribution forward on Audis?

    From what I've gathered...

    2.0L
    Sedan = 3715 lb (55/45%)
    Avant = 3814 lb (53/47%)
    My other home is an AIRSTREAM.

    I think the saloon's are 54/46 so they arn't like BMW's 50/50, but they have pushed back the engine in the new b8's so that they have better weight distribution than previous a4's/ As for the Avant I cannot answer this, but i bet its closer to 50/50 than the saloon

    Road and Track found the 3.2 sedan to be 55/45 (1090 and 1130 on the front 2 wheels, 890 and 905 on the aft two) Of course this is 4015 lbs -- well over audi's claimed curb weight of 3827. They say the curb weight is 3855, so perhaps a 160 lb driver?

    At any rate the 2.0T should be about 110 lbs lighter than the 3.2 -- that weight is basically on the front axle -- assuming that -- you would have 2110 front 1795 rear or 54/46%. -- So maybe you are both right, depending on which engine.

    The 6MT is about 90 lbs lighter than the Tip -- again close to the front axle (assuming) -- so that would be about 2020 front 1795 rear -- 53/47%

    What about the Quattro, where does that sit?

    Really? It's a bit of a vague question, but I think no.

    In bmw's the xi moves the center of weight to the front compared to an i: a driveshaft to the front and an axle and diff are added to the front. The magic 50/50 becomes 57/43 or something, but that's not really the xi's main issue (soft and low travel suspension and turn-in delay are).

    Compared to a front drive audi, though, quattro adds a driveshaft all the way to the back, and a rear diff and rear axle. I'd expect it'd move the center of weight rearwards. Possibly the torsen unit itself is up front, if that's what you meant sakimano, and that might offset this a bit but I don't think it's more front-biased than FWD audis.

    The Quattro consists of 3 diffs, right? One center, and two at the axles? Where does the center one sit? I assume that one and the rear one are substituted by something on the FronTrack.
