Thanks bob. I don't plan on doing anything like you want. I'm on the hunt for a small bumper coupe gt to do everything I did to the 4k but also gut it, cage it and drop in a 7a. Nothing handles like a well sorted CGT on the track.

Just picked this up yesterday :)

Picked this up for very cheap, site unseen, pretty much minimal information. 1982 Audi 4000 diesel. CR engine, 3M tranny. Gobi color.

I took the gamble and grabbed a rental car and drove 400 miles to southern Oregon, picked the car up, witnessed a 6 year old crying because her favorite car was being sold, and then promptly drove it 7 hours back north thru the Oregon mountains near Crater Lake.

Completely uneventful. I did the whole thing with 4 gears as the PO told me it was a 4 speed. They had a FJ cruiser 6 speed knob on it so I didnt even try to go into fifth.. luckily it was all back roads..

Today Casey asked what the tranny code was (3M) and then promptly schooled me.

Anywho heres some pics from yesterday.

I especially like the first one.. its got a period correct kinda color scheme going on. :) This was taken on a loggin road that I did some serious rally racing on :)

What a fantastic pickup! We never got these in Australia, which is a huge shame.


Recently we had our annual VW club show, and after months of organising, had the biggest B1 gathering here in Melbourne that's happened in many, many years.







Hopefully next year some more Foxes join in :)

I'm the 4'th owner. The car was first sold in Switzerland, in 2001 the car was imported to Denmark and driven until 2004 where it went to storage. 3'rd owner bought the car in 2005 and took it apart for total renovation (body and engine) after which it stayed in storage till I got it 2 days ago.

Car is in almost perfect condition except for worn rubber bushings and a few electrical hickups.. 3'rd owner is a mechanic by profession but he's got no clue about wirering ;-)

New AZEV A rims will be mounted replacing the ugly replica's.

Other cars in my driveway are 1998 Audi S4 2.7T Avant and 1990 VW Golf Cabriolet "Etienne Aigner".

A few updated photo's... Progress is slow, still need to sort out some issues in the cabin, find a "new" un-painted rear spoiler and have the engine bay cleaned up.. Had the car out for some fun that day so it's not 100% clean

Hope I don't annoy you with this movie. Installed new exhaust on the car, 3" downpipe, and 2x2.5" bn-pipes catback exhaust.. No catalysator..

Must see in 1080!
