Next, did I miss something, but $40+k is far from FREE... Maybe we just value our money differently from you...

And finally, looking at your breakdown there, you guys get ripped off on every item -- why does the panorama roof in Europe costs more than 2x what we pay here for the same exact thing? The delivery cost to the USA is $825, they charge you $1500 (I guess the distance is irrelevant)... Metallic paint $1700 (!!!) (vs. $425 that we pay); S-Line $6600 (vs. about $2500 we pay); tint is a $1000?!@#$%

But hey, isn't Norway the country with the highest standard (or one of them) in the World??? I guess there is a price for that...

That why i wrote "free". $40k will not get you a small Toyota in Norway.
I almost cry when i see US prices. The car price for an S4 is $213 000.
Most people drives around in old cars the would have been wrecked in US since they cant afford to replace it in a new. My previous car was a 20 year old japanse worth nothing.

The only thing norway has a high standard on is blond girls.(i dont count california) The rest is same as US or worse. ;-)

The total tax on the car is around $39k. (included car tax based on hp and emmision and general tax on 25%)

I think DPI maybe stands for the new start stop system maybe (the engine automatic stops in intersections to save fuel, new from 2010 models)

You will need to pay the tax. In fact the car price (without tax) is often lower in Norway.

Tried to check the Porsche price for you. Around $350k - $400K for a 911 Turbo. (depending on equipment and version)

Sadly the blond girls only come with the 170hp quattro versions and up. (another $20.000)

Volume discount in NA, they just don't buy so many of these over there. Taxes are a b&*ch . Interesting to see an s-line w/o the chrome fogs...

Depending on the dollar, that's about what it would cost in USD in Australia...I usually figure everything is about 3X the USD price of something in the US. It's crazy.

if you notice, the front and rear bumpers are not Sline, thus the fogs without chrome. It looks like the only included exterior SLine equipment are the side-sills and badges.

It has S-line sportpackage (seats, suspension) but i dont have S-line exteriour package.

S-line skirts are standard on all cars in Norway (also non S-line cars) The chrome pipe I have added. The reason for not going for S-line exteriour ($2500) is that i dont can fit the oem body kit i am planning to go for later.

If you guys think Norway is expensive then try Denmark. Denmark doesnt have many packages to add to the car. You more or less buy stock and then individual add ons.
I calculated my 09 A4 2.0TQ with P+ and Sport to cost close to 850.000dkr which roughly equals 170,530$.
Thats why ALOT of new cars in DK run stock as its not worth paying the taxes for all the cool extra stuff.

What MPG do you get with a TDI? I call the DPF "decreased performance filter" or "diesel power fuck-up" since all it does is decrease power and MPG's. But stupid tree-hugging bi-sexuals believe that it helps conserve the environment. I don't get it when it gets 35% lower fuel economy, hence we're using more fuel that increases pollution and more fossil fuel usage. I would rip off the EGR and DPF and put a straight-pipe exhaust without restrictors if its legal and I guarantee a noticable amount of power increase and better fuel milage. You should near or better than 50 mpg's.

There are a lot of factors to consider before saying a country is a rip off due to high vehicle prices, like: I wonder if they have the same high unemployment rate as we have here? Is there an existant SS that obviously is disappearing in US? How's medical care? And most importantly, what % of people carry VD's??

I know quite a lot of Norwegians in the Bay Area. Building a career and making money is easier in the US compared to EU.
If you have the drive and will to make primarily yourself successful and dont have family or other dependents, then US is the place to be.
If you are more interested in raising a family then the nordic countries are probably better for you.
It all depends on what you want in life.
