Millbrae camera ticket watch out

Argghhhh shitty day and I received a ticket in the mail for making a right turn during a red from Rollins to Millbrae Ave, WTF?

Be careful if anyone drives around this area, I had lunch at In and Out by the Millbrae bart station and this is what happens. Damnanother court hearing...
Too bad I just got my AZ plates otherwise I would have rocked it in the pic.

I had that happen to me but I have a euro front plate...so no ticket for me.

In order to not get a ticket while making a right is making a full stop on the red. The redlight acts as a stop sign if you're making a right.

oh man, i used to live by there.. that intersection is notorious for giving out tons of tickets!

I'm always confused as to what the camera is taking a picture of. A couple of those on El Camino look like they flash randomly.

i heard it's illegal to get a ticket from a camera if there is no cop present?? is this true, ive heard all kinds of different stories.

^ that's not true lol. That's what the camera is for..it replaces the cop waiting at intersections to catch people that run redlights

The camera takes pictures from all angles. The letter I received contained 5 pics;
1st pic from the back when the light was red.
2nd pic from the left, when the traffic across began to move.
3rd pic when I "illegally" turned.
4th pic of my license plate close up.
5th pic of my face close up behind the wheel

I work down the street and see the cameras go off all the time.
Like speedydragon said, completely stop and then slowly roll around the turn.
I've gotten flashed a couple of times the past 2 years but nothing in the mail yet.
I would fight the ticket too. There are tons of people in the same situation in sure.

In San Jose it is, which is why those camera-radar vans are gone.

lol thats way over the top. they make a spray that you put on your license and it acts as a reflector when a flash hits it. so all they see in the pic is a blurred out license :]

I just saw the video.....I did a rolling stop instead of a full stop - $#it!, cant fight it now. I have to face the judge and go to traffic school.

I tried to make a copy of the pics but they have a security function that disables my "copy" feature. I'll see what I can do when I get home and use my own computer tonight.

A: Pedestrian collisions and right-angle vehicle collisions often result from running red lights. Studies have shown that such collisions involve more risk of serious injury or death than other kinds of collisions. In an effort to reduce these types of collisions, the State of California has adopted laws that allow automated camera enforcement of red light violations. From a review of photographs and a video recording by an automated red light enforcement camera it has been determined that, on the date and time and at the location indicated on the front side of the citation, your vehicle was facing a steady circular red signal when it failed to stop at a clearly marked stop line or at any other stopping point described by the California Vehicle Code 21453. If you were making a right hand turn at the time of the incident, the videotape shows that you failed to come to a complete stop before making the turn as required by CVC 21453.
Q: If I am already in the intersection when a light turns red, will I get a citation?
A: No. Citations are only issued when a vehicle enters the intersection AFTER the light has turned red. If you enter the intersection during the green or yellow light you will not be photographed by the camera system.

I saw the camera sticking right up in the middle of the island. So take caution when you exit Millbrae Ave. and want to bust a right off the exit.
