Install helicoil without insert tool?

I'm sure you could but I wouldn't recommend it. It would probably be worth getting another set to get the piece if its because its missing.

Ah. Gotta have it for tomorrow. I'm just gonna buy a helicoil kit. However my local store carries some off brand, will that coil go into the original thread I tapped out?

As long as its the kit for the same application it should be exactly the same. Otherwise the new threads wouldn't be compatible with what it says.

Hmm, so you're saying that an offbrand kit (mainly the insert itself) wont work with my "Helicoil" threads.
