Anyone program their garage doors to the homelink system in the car?

Tried to program for about an hour yesterday following the book instructions and it just wont work!

    My garage openers are Liftmasters.

When i do the procedure to program my flashers blink 3 times like the book says they will when the car took the code, but when i press the button in the car the garage doors dont move!

I messed around with mine for a while before I got it to work. The reason we have difficulty is because our openers change frequency as part of some Canadian rule or something.

To get it to work, just start the programming steps as per the instructions but instead of holding the garage opener clicker in front of the bumper, push the "learn" button right on the garage door opener unit. That is how I got it to work.

All LinkMaster openers in the last 10 years use a Rolling Code. You need to follow the instructions in the handbook that deal with rolling code garage doors.

I didn't need one. Just enter the setup mode by holding the home-link button and then press the button on your garage door opener unit. once that is done your hazards will flash and you are done.

Sometimes you may need to press the buttons on the main unit and not the remote.

Re: program homelink to open garage doors?

it's pretty straightforward...I think you skipped the second half of the instructions

anyone have trouble with their thing not working after a couple of months? Mine seems to work, then it seems to de-program itself after a while.

Never had a problem. I've programed multiple cars on multiple garage doors. Both normal & rolling code ones.

Re: program homelink to open garage doors?

I just recently had to reprogram mine, and I did the rolling code first, and then the garage door opener remote.

Just go to the opener and click the learn button, then go to your car and click the button of your choice twice (some openers require this as mentioned in the manual). Then get the remote for your opener and put it an inch or two away and press and hold both buttons simultaneously until the homelink light starts flashing quickly (no "waving" needed).

Or do the remote first, and then go click the learn button on the opener. Doesn't matter.
ok so i hit the "learn" button on my opener then go into the car and just press button I twice.

Once thats done i hold button I a few seconds until it flashes then i go out and press my remote button in front of the bumper until the flashers blink 3 times and im done?

Just confirming i understand the procedure correctly!

I did the procedure on my car first (what was in the manual). Then I walked up to my garage door opener and hit the orange button. Stuff flashed on the car. Then it worked.

After programming, you must hold the homelink button you chose to use for more than just a quick press. I was making that mistake. The system had been programmed successfully but because I wasn't holding down the button the garage door wouldn't open making it appear I hadn't programmed the system properly. You must hold it for two or three seconds and then, wallah... garage door open, garage door close, garage door reverse direction.

Anybody get the Homelink to work with a condo garage door? Not sure there's a "learn" option available. Only an Open, Close and Stop button on the wall.

For future reference, there should be a "1 - 800" number in your manual with step by step telephone instructions. I refer all my clients to this instead of following the manual instructions, translations can be inaccurate. Don't have a manual infront of me, but check for it.
