Anybody done an Alcantara headliner??

Just curious if anyone has done this to their S4 or RS4? If so, how much did it cost? My RS4 has alcantara seating and doors but a standard headliner...sure would look bitchin if I had the headliner done.

i am very interested in doing this in my a4. i think it would look tits and i dont see how it could be hard to do. people do plaid on vw's all the time

i thought about doing mine and still am considering it.

it would definitely be teh final touch to my car. however, it would need to come after the big brakes and supercharger.

its very expensive to do right but it does look soooo good.

After some research, looks like its called "ultrasuede" in the USA, same brand as Alcantara (Toray). Now to find it and price it...

i havent done it on a b6/b7 s4 however it should be in the area of 6-800 depending on who does the work if you can source the fabric from toray directly you could prolly only pay for labour, which should be in the 400 area.

LOL, don't you remember that thread? Dude got quite upset when everyone asked him that. I guess he was the second owner, and the first had done all that. He actually wanted to trade the red for the silver alcantara. I don't know that he got any takers...or just never responded.

gotcha... thanks for the heads up... i assumed, since every (two) rs6 i went to check out had it... but i know for a fact every e39 m5 had alcantara headliner.

Id say black or a dark gray. Whatever you can get to match your interior.

I spent a month sending emails to a guy in Italy trying to get a color code, and order some (Small damaged section in Right Rear Seat). After a few emails back and forth, I ended up getting a response in broken English that the OEM silver alcantara is LONG out of production.

I think the biggest issue with this is the removal/reinstallation of the headliner. Getting the headliner out in one piece can be a real PITA. Sometimes it involves removing the rear glass, or both front seats, or both. I have no idea on this car, but based on the amount of room in the car, it could be ugly.

Its expensive material and a pain in the ass to DIY...requires a lot of patience and skill. Friend of mine did it with his B5 A4...iirc it took 2 (or 3) attempts to get right.

True black will make your stock "black" interior materials (seats, dash, trim bits, pillars, etc) look grey as they are not quite "black". A super dark grey would probably match the best.

Just go test a few as any interiors place will have swatches.

i told him i will remove the panels myself and reinstall them too.

i am waiting on his response and hopefully a much better price...

sounds way out of market for that job... btw i wouldnt do the visors, bc youll ruin them quickly... constantly touching them with oily hands youll have spots all over them.

apparently they charge $140 per yard for real alcantara.

gotta find a better deal then this...
