Hey guys I've been searching the threads to see what people recommend for a A6 Avant Quattro replacement strut/shock. I've seen that some people really recomend bilstein but I wanted see what other people thought or experienced with other brands. Thanks for the help.

    Re: Best Replacement Struts/Shocks

Bilstein would be a great replacement. Some people use Koni.
    Also depends on your budget.
If you wll be changing the shocks might as well put in lower springs if you want to lower the car. Springs are only $200 and shocks will run you about $500 depending on where you will be purchsing them from.

I've been wondering the same thing. I need new shocks on my Avant but want to lower at the same time. What combo is going to give the best ride quality? I'm more concerned with ride than handling but like the lowered look. It will give me a reason to upgrade to 17's or 18's. I will probably stick with 17's because of ride quality.

That's the one that I have been considering. I have been shopping around and have seen as low as $850-900 range on it. It's not going to be a priority until we move and I have a garage again. Apartment living sucks. I can't fathom spending labor dollars on something I can do myself.

    Re: Best Replacement Struts/Shocks

If you're buying them just to go a little lower and maybe a bit better handling there is a guy selling his 03 S6 Avant in the classifieds. On his eBay ad he said he would include the stock suspension but the ad ended because he didn't meet his reserve price. Look him up and see if you can buy his S6 suspension for cheap (maybe $250 ish)

EDIT: Looks like he sold it since yesterday (the car) Doesn't mean he sold the suspension with it.

Guys, we really do have to get to the bottom of the Eibachs with FSD vs Bilstein matter. A Blues Bros conference or something.
