i have the ones like posted above. no issues at all and the cheap HID that they came installed with are much better than the non hid 2 piece black out lights i had before.

I've seen it done on a T-Red MKIV JTI, wish I still had the picture. It sounded color than it looked, it might look good with a darker color though...I don't know to each his own.

    Re: Blackout headlights?

I had these a couple years ago. The car was in an accident and I needed a headlight and these were picked up for a hundred bucks. The high beams were worthless without their reflectors. Otherwise they were fine.

i have those exact ones from ebay. they are ecodes with black housings. i love them, and they came with pre-installed 6000K HIDs. i think they would only look good on a black car though.

    here are mine.

    Re: Blackout headlights?

If you're thinking of taking the lights apart and painting it yourself, it is a huge pita. I did it and they turned out okay but not how i would have liked. Getting the light housing apart is a complete joke and if these black ecodes were around when i was thinking of doing this i would have probably done that.

    Here's mine though:

Don't mind the black center rings and the blue side markers, they got changed

I ended up cracking a lens and the opposite lens gets really fogged up in cold/moist air conditions but it was a fun process and its my labor, so go with whatever you think man

Yeah the way the lens hooks up to the black housing, the clear housing fits into a U shape (the black part). kinda hard to describe but i cooked those things at 200 or 250 and the longest i tried was about 8-10min and they still wouldn't pull apart at all, so i bent the top part of the U back and the glue could be cut through. So i continued to bend and cut while heating it up with a hair dryer.

Sealed it back up with silicone but the upper part of the U wouldn't fully bend back into position. I could get some plastic cement type stuff if i were you

My advice is to find something that is actually broken to fix. Or buy aftermarket black lights. I replaced mine with stock S4 housings and a 55w hid kit and didn't even bother clearing the corners.

    Re: Blackout headlights?

I'm sure a heat gun would work a little bit better than an oven.. Would be much safer too. You could then actually control the heat and potentially have better results. But yes, that's what I did. Used a heat gun, took the glue off, sanded, primed, painted, sanded, painted, etc., then used a silicon to put back around the edges.

All the ones I see on ebay come with H7 bulbs. Where'd you find the HID ones?

Has anyone used the ebay ones with a DDM slim ballast HID kit?
